the super regionals. now the WCWS....what cha think of those teams? Wash. and Fla. (now 60-3) with super pitchers. Also Alabama held Jacks. St. to no hits in super regional. Missouri over UCLA. Both Arizona and Arizona St. moving on. I think I heard that Arizona has over 125 HR's. Some girl (not sure what team?) has 30 homers. a girl hit 3 homers in one game.
SE Conf with 3 teams in, also Pac 10 has 3. ACC has none.

Some play, hitting, and pitchers are a notch or two better than what you see around here but I thought some of the super-regional losers were not that impressive.

    precictions? comments?

    SEC

This could be Fla.'s year as they have an explosive offense and pitching isn't bad either. Of course Bama and GA are both playing well. SEC may have the winner this year. That said Arizona always finds a way at money time!:sultan:

Look for FLA. WASH. or 1 of the 2 Arizonia's to win it all......... Did anyone see the HR hit by the girl from Georgia Friday night, it was her 2nd in the game. About a 270 to 300' bomb...... One that you just stand and watch. The folks on TV went "OH MY....WHOW"......

I think it will be the year of the Gator. However watch out for the dark horse Michigan.

    REAL Dark Horse...

Say what you want about all the usual suspects....Arizona, Michigan, etc.
The team that absolutely surprised me was.......MIZZOU!

If they don't get scared of just being there, Missouri could do some damage.
Nasty-good pitching, solid defense and timely hitting.....plus the mojo of knowing you knocked UCLA out. Momentum is on the side of Mizzou.

    They are my pick.

    me too

I have to agree; Missouri looked impressive and really took it to the Bruins. The freshman pitcher in the first win vs. UCLA kept her composure and came through big time.
However I am picking Washington to win it all.

This will ultimately come down to pitching . . .

it always does and you have to like UW & UF for that reason. Lawrie and Nelson are the closest thing to dominate pitchers out there. That said, this is the most balanced field in WCWS history. The lack of an Osterman, Abbott or Tincher (who, by the way, never won) is the most apparant break with the past. The nice thing is all eight teams are balanced in that they have solid offenses. Any of the eight teams could win if their pitcher gets hot.

I really like Missouri's team but doubt a freshman pitcher (even though she may be the hardest thrower there) can get them through.

The true wild card is Arizona. It's hard to score versus quality teams but there is no defense for the HR. Candrea's pitching is suspect (his #1 is taking cortisone shots in her pitching shoulder to get on the field) but the bats are scarey.

Folks, the game is changing as the hitters are getting better. I saw it during my DD's four years in the 7 - 9 hitters she faced. They got progressively better each year. It should make for an entertaining series.

    Fun World Series

It should be fun. I'm pulling for Washington. DD is pulling for Florida. Wife is pulling for Arizona....Nothing new at our house.

this is a huge change in our game... there is much more reliance upon what I would call a traditional game of ball than the over and over again bunt/slap which dominated the game since its inception. There are super strong girls out there now who have been taught a more rotational way to hit since they were small. Its NOT that they can hit it 300+ feet which some now can.. its that they can "miss" and still hit one out.

I am not saying that slapping/bunting/speed is dead.. far from it. But I do think the HR will become more and more prevalant as a way to score runs in college level ball and we will end up seeing some change in the dimensions, especially a deeper CF, which will make it a better game.
