have any of you heard about the Mississippi State Univ. pitcher that throws a change-up pitch behind her back? saw it on a TV sports show.
they gave stats touting its effectiveness. she's righthanded & steps slightly towards 3rd base before releasing the pitch behind her back. They said that when she first started throwing it, a few opposing teams claimed it was an illegal pitch, but the NCAA reviewed it and ruled that it was OK.

    Behind the back

I saw it on TV a few weeks ago. It really looked cool but the batter hit it deep to right field. :blah:

"Red" LJ Brooks from East Rutherfordton has a backwards fastball that she throws, faces second base, turns toward home and rips with one motion, messed some kids up in the nsa state last year, know its not behind the back, but very different

I'd love to see that one. Does she still pitch?

more about the MSU pitcher, Stephanie Comeaux

MSU's Comeaux To Be Featured On Fox Sports Net's NCAA On Campus
    05/08/2006

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Featuring a behind the back changeup that has quickly become the talk of opponents across the country, Mississippi State junior pitcher Stephanie Comeaux will be one of the feature stories of this month’s episode of NCAA On Campus, a monthly, 30-minute look at college sports airing on Fox Sports Net nationwide.

The episode, which will air three times in May, will mainly feature her specialized pitch, but will also focus on her outstanding efforts in the classroom, as well as her family’s bout with Hurricane Katrina in August. Regionally, the show can be viewed on Fox Sports Net South (Northland Cable channel 24; DirecTV channel 630; Dish Network channel 420) on May 8 at 2 p.m. CDT and on May 26 and May 27 at 1 p.m.

Having reeled off a school record-tying 10 victories to begin the season, Comeaux currently maintains a 15-10 record and a team-best 1.75 ERA. The Pascagoula native has a pair of no-hitters to her credit this season, including registering a no-no in State’s series opener at Arkansas. She has been named to three all-tournament teams this season, while also collecting her first career SEC Pitcher of the Week accolade after tallying a 3-0 record and a 0.95 ERA at the Baylor-hosted Compass Bank Invitational. Among her three victories in Waco, Texas, was a four-hit shutout of then-No. 13 Washington.

The show began in 2003 and highlights all NCAA-sponsored sports. The Fox Sports Net crew travels to college and university campuses throughout the United States for show interviews and feature stories. The show airs at various times on Fox Sports Net across the country. A complete listing of times is available at NCAAsports.com.
