3rd Annual Belmont Abbey Prospect Showcase

On November 17th, 2007 the Belmont Abbey Baseball program invites you to attend our 3rd Annual Belmont Abbey Prospect Showcase. During the past two recruiting seasons this prospect showcase has been instrumental in providing players for our program. We currently have over 15 players in our program that attended this prospect showcase. We will only invite 2008 and 2009 graduates to keep this more focused on recruitable athletes. Players from all over the east coast will be in attendance. We will also invite several other colleges from around our area to be in attendance. We expect a good turnout from other colleges as this showcase has grown over the past years.
We will charge 40 dollars for the showcase. As always we try to keep the cost down. We want this to be a recruiting tool for our program and not a moneymaker. Each athlete will be provided with a camp tee-shirt and lunch. Our sign in time will be at 8:30 AM on the 17th. The check in area will be directly in front of the baseball field. Depending on the number in attendance the end time could vary. We will probably shoot for 2 PM for the prospect showcase to end.
The actual showcase will consist of a pro-style workout. 60 time, infield play, outfield range and arm-strength, Batting Practice on the field, and live bullpens. We will do a little more with the workout than most pro-styles do in order to see as much as we can of each player’s ability level.

If you want more info please email Chris Anderson @
    [email protected]

EDIT They will hold openings through Friday November 16th

    Braves are you going?

Are you going to be there? I would be interested in knowing who shows up and how the guys do. Im thinking of going myself. Im not sure right now. For 40.00 bucks how can any kid that wants to play in college pass this opportunity up. I have no idea.

My plan is to be there. This may be my first opportunity to go and actually watch the players vs catching up with old and new friends. I really want to see the players and get some feedback from the coaches attending.

I mean this with no disrespect intended. Originally, I thought this might be a showcase for Belmont Abbey exclusively. But I was wrong. The last two years, there were many schools attending and they were prepared to confirm their prospects.

I can say this truthfully, Coach Smith and Anderson are some of the best coaches afforded in this state. They are young, aggressive and knowledgable. As they say, it is not a moneymaker. For $40 not only you get a pro workout in front of scouts, but you get lunch as well.

I hope that all those attending take note to what you posted about how a player should conduct themselves. Look like a ballplayer, hustle, hustle, hustle. Be the 1st one in and out of the dugout (sprint to your position). Be aggressive, be polite and standout above the rest. That was some great advice that you provided.

    Can you just show up?

Or do you have to pre register? I have a couple of guys that just informed me they want to come. Do they need to contact Belmont Abbey or can they just show up on the 17th? Let me know ASAP. Thanks

They or you can contact Coach Chris Anderson at his email address and let him know. Friday, the day before the showcase, is the last day they will be taking sign-ups. But in your case, you can give them a call and they will hold those positions....you got power, baby!

I'll be the good lookin' one sporting a L-R hat. The others wearing the LR hat will not be so pretty and will happen to be coaches.

Hey Braves!! Happen to have a list of any schools that will be there? Know if Hendricks is coming?

I'm gonna have my youngest there (junior @ Butler).

I'll be wearing my L-R hat too!! I guess people will be getting you and me confused?

About the L-R hat- that's a good thing E. If someone comes up and looks disturbed and asks, "are you Braves?"...I'll say no and send him in your direction

    Yes, Hendricks should be there.

As far as the other schools? Each year it keeps growing. I wouldn't be surprised to find a few D1 schools floating around, but there will definately be a lot of DII, DIII and Juco's.

Perhaps the Belmont Abbey coaches can respond to this.

Looking forward to seeing you there E, but I do have a question. Can you bring a portable heater?
