I've watched him for years. You neglected his outstanding speed on the bases and his agressiveness and the fact that he's a lefty who throws STRIKES.

    Top '04's

Here are just a few of the top '04's from the Triad area:

Ryan Basham (RHP)- East Forsyth(Kernersville) 6'1"/155- Can touch 88-89, consistent mid-80's with good arm action. Won't turn 17 till end of August so has a lot of upside potential and projects extremely well.

Travis High (RHP/IF)- Wesleyan(High Point) 6'2"/170- Also can reach near 90 with smooth motion. And also has plenty of room to get stronger.

Alex Sink (IF)- Ragsdale(Jamestown) 5'10"/170- Decent arm but great legs with around 6.90/60 speed. Also has good bat with some pop.

Chris Engle (OF)- Wesleyan(High Point) 5'8"/160- Lefty who is a good outfielder with plus arm. Pitches but doesn't get same velocity off mound as he does from the field.

    Jay McConnell

I got my second opportunity to see Jay McConnell from East Gaston behind the plate (and at the plate) yesterday. He made all-conference as a sophomore over at East Gaston last year and it's easy to see why.

McConnell is easily one of the best looking young catchers I've seen in awhile. Great reflexes & blocking skills, quick as a cat. He has an outstanding baseball build and hits line drive after line drive at the plate. Easily one of the top 04's in the state.

    Bryan Graham, West Rowan
    Seth Waller, West Rowan
    Chris McDaniel, West Rowan
    Luke Overcash, West Rowan

    Patrick Atwell, South Rowan
    Jack Campbell, Salisbury
    Jacob Cooper, East Rowan
    Tyler Morgan, East Rowan
    Jason Cauble, East Rowan

    They'd make quite a team.

This may take a while, but here goes.

Patrick Adams: RHP, OF, FB in upper 80s has hit low 90s, sharp knee buckliing CB, lots of movement, one of the strongest arms I've seen in a kid under 6' tall, has good speed, can cover a lot of ground in the OF, RH hitter can hit for average and power.

Ryan Wilson; C, at 6'2" 200 lbs. can be a force at and behind the plate, poptimes 2.0-2.1, good hands, frames and blocks pitches well, can really get low for a big guy, very flexable. Switch hitter, can hit for average and power from both sides.

Bryan Graham: SS, not a big kid but has great hands and foot work, can cover alot of ground, another strong arm on a small guy. RH hitter, good contact hitter, good bat control, hits for average, but has hit some bombs.

Seth Waller: 3B, OF, good upper body strength can hit a ball a ton, can hit for average. Batted over .500 in 40 ABs for Rowan Legion and got cut.

Chris McDaniel; RHP, 1B, OF, not an over powering pitcher but will throw strikes, solid defensive player at 1B, picks ball well, not real fast but won't hurt you in the OF. RH hitter.

Luke Overcash; OF, reads the ball off the bat as good as anybody I've seen, has good speed, very aggressive base runner, if the catcher drops the ball, he'll take a base. RH hitter, very strong upper body, has surprising pop in his bat.

Bubba Morris; SS, solid defensive player, good hands, good arm. RH hitter, hits for average, good contact hitter.

Patrick Atwell; OF, good speed, a threat on the bases, good arm. LH hitter.

Jack Campbell; 1B, big target at 1st, 6'3-4", can really stretch out to get a ball, picks ball well, good defensive player. RH hitter.

Jacob Cooper; LHP, FB in mid to upper 80s, good CB and change. a real thinker, has a plan for every batter, very stoick, never shows emotion. RH hitter.

Tyler Morgan; LHP, 1B, not an over powering pitcher, throws a lot of fly ball outs, has a deceptive delivery. LH hitter.

Jason Cauble; RHP, 3B, OF, excellent athlete, very versitle, good arm, good speed, a bulldog on the mound, he'll go after it. RH hitter, contact hitter with sometimes pop, tough out.

Micheal Gegorek; 2B, solid defensive player, not afraid to get dirty, great little hustler, covers ground. LH hitter, contact hitter mostly but has shown flashes of power.
