Can anyone recommend a fastpitch softball bat that is good for cold weather, say down to 40F? Thanks.

doublewall and composite have limitations of 55 plus degrees. i would say a good single wall bat would do, most of the bat companies make them. our hs team has a couple of worth, couple of tps and couple of louisville single wall for the early spring games. they all hit about the same as far as i can see, and all were purchased at sports authority, on sale for between 49.00 - 79.00 in the off season.

Might want to check the softball crowd. BB bats have not faired well in cold weather. Some of those bat warms are ok.

Buy a bat warmer, it is worth it, around $40.00 (check ebay) keeps the bat warm for hours and you can reheat in a microwave, we used them this past weekend, a warm bat takes most of the sting away also. Well worth the investment.

Bat warmers are technically illegal in softball.

    It's Time ________

That is the signal to stop until spring...most bats are rated above 60 degree Fahrenheit and will fail if continue to hit with, severe damage will occur to the bat....:apeani:......under 60 degrees.

Get whatever bat the University of Michigan uses

Michigan has good power numbers every year and plays a bunch of games in cold weather once conference season starts. Of course, they will be able to return bats that fail and you probably won't so that's a concern.

Are the insulated iron gloves illegal too? I am new to TBR but my kids have been playing TB for years. We use the iron gloves to protect the bat while in the batbag. It might keep the bat warm enough to use without damage but I doubt it. I do not think it would be warm enough to enhance performance of the bat so I would not want to get the girls in trouble for having them.

i cant remember the exact wording, but its basically anything that adds heat to a bat in cold weather, like microwaving or heating bat covers or gas or electric bat warmers, that kind of thing is forbidden.
