Last I heard, that was a last resort. It would be a REAL shame to destroy what Coach Hardee has worked so hard to build up. I am sure the parents will have a lot to say about that ever happening... after all, it was their money and hard work that help create that field.

If you are talking between the lines West Forsyth has one of the best fields in the state. It looks and plays awesome. The hill down the first line where fans sit is a great seat!! North Davidson also has a great field in the CPC.

I don't want to beat this thing to death, but Andy Partin of Impact Baseball was at North Davidson's game Thursday evening. His comment on his website: "And by the way, North Davison high school is one of the top 2 or 3 high school fields I have seen this spring!"

Personal comment: It is encouraging that so many are proud of their hometeam's facilities. That means there are alot of coaches who are busting their fanny to elevate NC high school baseball. Often football fields get the attention while baseball is ignored.

You are correct UK...at least here in Charlotte it has become the norm that ALL HS fields are being upgraded due to the coach's passion for a better facility. For many years (and continues to this day), South Meck was the leader in regards to facilities, but East Meck has upgraded their field to one of the best. Danny Hignight is doing a good job with limited options, Charlotte Christian will have a premiere facility, King at NM has a great field, the new school (Kell) will probably be the best and from all reports Victory Christian sets the standard.

It is just the beginning, in my opinion, as each coach will try to out do the other.

    Improvements at Orange

Orange HS has spent over $40,000 in the last four years on facility upgrades. Most of the money was raised through the baseball program.

    Outfield irrigation
    Infield dirt- dust control irrigation
    Brickwall backstop- 150'
Backstop padding directly behind the plate
New backstop fence and posts- black vinyl-coated wire to height of 20' and 150' long
    Painted dugouts
New net above backstop to height of 40' and 170' long
Black vinyl inserts in the outfield fence to eliminate windscreen
New bleachers on home and visitors' side

    more to come

Rich Parks field in mocksville is one of the better fields in the area. The sitting area is right on top of the field. The playing surface during the high school was rough. Those problems are now is fixed. All it needed was to be top dressed. The grass is all level some dirt needs to be added but thats it. If people came to the legion games this past weekend they will say that rich park looked great.

I fully agree that Rich Park is an excellent venue. The outfield wall & the grandstand give it the feel of a minor league park. The bank down the first base line is a great place to watch a game. If the playing surface has been upgraded, Rich deserves to be ranked among the best in the state.

(P.S.--I've never been crazy about the mound...Too steep of a drop IMHO).

(P.S.P.S.--Watch out for Davie next season...Very young & competitive team coming back. The CPC will be strong strong strong next season with the addition of East Rowan & Mt Tabor).
