This is a topic I would like to discuss in every sport. Best football atmospheres in the NW4A. There are some yawners and some great HS football experences. My list.

    1. Watauga- Loudest stadium in the NW4A. Located in that valley around the mountains keeps the noise in. Rabid student section with tons of support. Used to be great tailgating before it was banned. Great Intro with the smoke down through the stands to protect this house and zombie nation. Hells Bells on third down like App State and Carolina is intimadating as well.

    2. ACR- Big time atmosphere. The artficial turf makes it look major. Great fan support. Loyal. Expect alot. PA announcer is the man as well and does a good job. Field passes required makes it feel big time as well.

    3. East Burke- Tons of people. Tailgating. Great Band performances.

    4. South Caldwell- Always full. Homecoming there last year was not so fun for Watauga (hurt player). But great time otherwise.

    5. Freedom- Full, ballons, flags. Freedom takes football seriously.

    6. Alexander- Nothing bad, nothing special

    7. McDowell- Reminds me of going to a game at Wake before they were good. They make up for it in hoops though.

    1. Watauga - great fan support, great show put on... always a full student section... some students showing up an hour and a half before the game to get good seats. Crazy costumes are always present. Chants from the students go on constantly throughout the game.

    2. AC Reynolds - Big stadium... always pretty packed, always a good team which means good fan support. Something unexpected always happens. Great atmosphere.

    3. South Caldwell - Always intense, always loud.

    4. East Burke - Band is good, always a good showing, and a lot going on before the game too.

    5. Freedom - Always a competitor, good show put on, loud fans that love their team.

    6. Mcdowell - They won me over on their homecoming last year, packed stadium with a packed student section who was very intense. Their running back has alot to do with that im guessing.

    7. Alexander - whoopty doo... mediocre at best.

I hate to be a homer but East Burke has to be higher on this list if your looking at field, seating, lockerrooms , band, consessions, bathrooms, big crowds, and fireworks. Play on the field isnt too bad either.

Notice I have East third. I think East is really a fun place to see a game.

Rankings by the ones I've been to

    1-ACR-winning does that to ya.
2-East Burke-I love the stadium, even enjoyed a band comp. there.
3-Watauga-The fans love their team and you know it.
4-Freedom-Was the Chargers #1 rival in the old NW4A so it was always fun.
5-Alexander Central-To be honest, hated games there because of the field, of course that was a few years ago.
    6-McDowell-Somebody has to be last.

I've never been to game at South Caldwell, I've always seen them play at someone elses place.

McDowell is a place i would be scared to see if thier team became something, the crowds i've seen to watch thier titans get smashed were suprising. Asheville has a good feel, although i think thats more due to the tremendous football than the crowd to be honest. and Watauga was great at the end of last year but thinking back to the beginning of last season that stadium was not the same environment...fairweather fans?? nowhere in the NW4A has anything on real big high school football, go to charlotte, go to greensboro, then you will see 17,000 screaming fans and asheville, boone and connelly springs will sound like a study session
