Now don't you scorekeepers feel guilty NOW ??---- LOL

    Guru

What you ought to ask is all the .450--.600 batting averages in highschool what are their averages in college ??? Then truth will be known !!!

Don't think you can make a blanket statement like that Guru. Yes, most of the score keepers in HS leave a lot to be desired but there are plenty of girls that can actually hit .450 - .600 if the pitchers/teams in their conference are not that strong. Don't think you are going to find to many 'weak' teams in the ACC so their average will go down.

    Averages...

Lets not forget the quality of pitching they faced in HS.
Step up to the next level and you will find the pitchers are soooo much better.
    Example:
Lauren Taylor HCHS, senior year, 3A Eastern pitcher of the year.
Freshman year at NC State, Not a pitch, zero, notta.
Yes, the pitching in college IS that much better.

    Maybe Not But---

And I understand that you play who you have to play, but is it really valid in the end ??? I mean you got one kid that throws 40 mph, then someone else in your conference that throws 60 plus mph, where's the consistency ??? DD bats 3-4 then bats 0-3 due to the speed or well versed pitcher...I think college really shows where you are !!!

But who am I but the Guru ???

No disrespect to the Guru intended!

I don't know you (that I know of...) but from reading your posts and what others say about you, I have nothing but respect for you.

My point was that you could have conferences that have say 8 teams. 4 of them are not very good so a girl could easily have plenty of 'pad your stats' games where they go 3-4 or 4-4. Then you have the better teams where she goes 1-3 or 2-3 (less at bats against the better teams). In the given scenario, a girl could easily finish with a legitimate average in the .500 to .700 range.

I think looking at the stats during the playoffs might give a better picture. JMHO

    batting Averages

Don't always blame the score keepers. We had a few batters with a high batting average (400 and above) but they were true hits because nobody touched the ball before hitting the ground in the outfield. Batting averages go down when in college due to there are better players in college that cover more ground and the hits they were getting in High School are caught by the fielders.

The difference is in High School you may have 3-4 good players per team and in college all the players are good.

Pretty Much yes if they don't have time to throw someone out.

High School Batting averages go up just like Pitchers ERA's Go up in High School because of the defensive players you have around them.
