This is a topic I would like to discuss in every sport. Best basketball atmospheres in the NW4A. There are some yawners and some great HS basketball experences. My list.

    1. McDowell- The league championships this past year were insane.
    2. Alexander- Fans are rowdy and its always a heated battle when WHS comes to town.
    3. East Burke- GO WILDBUNCH- plus great place to broadcast from.
    4. South- Lots a people right on the floor
    5. ACR- Not great, not bad
    6. Watauga, some good things, music and intros come to mind, lots of bad things that I wont name.
    7. Freedom- Nice gym, just quiet

    1. McDowell-The titan dome is an intimidating place to play at, and the students actually get into the game.
    2. SC- The gym is so small, loud, and the crowd is so close, like Cameron Indoor
3.EBHS- Even though the gym is exactly the same as FHS the student section is a lot more active.
4.ACR- middle of the road not good not bad
5.FHS- Not the best but in big games like vs. EBHS it gets intense
6.WHS- It feels like the fans never really are there except for the Coach Rogers Incident.
    7. ACHS- In the 2 games i have been there with FHS, no real atmosphere to speak of.

Watauga came ready for a big year in basketball and alot of cheering early in the year. First heated game an incident occured that wont be named on here but would undoubtedly make any cheering section die and just not want to cheer if it wasnt because they were mad but it was to get back at someone... without that happening the place would have been alot louder and more fun to be in.

yea early i was excited about wataugas crowd, but after a few incidents and the cop/dog combo patrolling around the floor, no standing on the floor, it felt like everyone was afraid to make noise

    1. McDowell- Great basketball, great crowd, giant gym, they got it right!
    2. ACR- small gym but they fill it and it gets loud
    3. Alexander- the band, and student section make that place fun
    4. EBHS- the students get into it, i'd love to see a fhs-eb game there
    5. Freedom- same as EBHS, but i think the cavs got a bit louder
6- South Caldwell- just didn't leave much of an impression on me
    7. Watauga- let the kids stand on the floor, cheer and go crazy, that gym will shoot up the list real fast

i know from experience that McDowell is the best and craziest crowd in the conference. The only one close that McDowell played all year was Hopewell, ironically they were the Hopewell Titans. Get em Titans
