In your opinion what is the best student section in the NW4A for basketball?

I would have to be a little homer and say Watauga but since my point guard buddy down at South Caldwell told the Caldwell papers that Watauga crowd was vulgar and loud its a little less homerish.

Watauga has a big section, loud, full of rowdy students and even this year when our principles cracked down on sportsmanship and threated to remove any student who disrespected the opposing team or their fans, WHS still got to people. Props into second would go to Alexander. They are decent but not very creative. Before it comes up I have been to a basketball game at every NW4A school in the past two years so I have scouted out my slection.

Nice topic to serve as a conversation piece during the off-season. Here are my half-nickel's worth... :twocents:

You know, there are only two schools in the conference that I haven't been to (Watauga and South Caldwell). If you asked most every NW4A fan out there, South Caldwell has the "loudest" crowd of all, a good part of that could be due to the dimensions of the gym and parts of it are due to the fans itself.

If you wanna talk being rowdy (and sometimes just plain rude) AC Reynolds fans along with East Burke rank fairly high. McDowell's crowd, while it seems to get smaller every year, they are a loyal bunch. Again as I said earlier, haven't been to Watauga. Alexander Central's crowd is much more tame now in that nice new facility compared to the old days. And I hate to say it but the Freedom kids act like proper Englishmen sitting down for a cup of tea and wafers. The silence in that gym at times can be amazing. It used to not be like that at one time, but unforunately it is now.

This outta be interesting to see the difference in opinions reguarding this topic.

South Caldwell for girls games but everyone leaves after they play. East Burke for the boys. I guess best all-around that stays for both games is Watauga.

I am going to have to disagree with the fact that Watauga is better for both. Maybe JV guys and varsity guys. But my lands WHS all leaves for the girls because they are not good. All the underclassmen pack the crowd for JV guys then they get up and all the juniors and seniors don't show up till 2nd half of the girls and then only to get a front row seat for guys. I think WHS students are pretty rude. Even though the WHS principle has tried to crack down on that stuff. Best road crowd for students traveling is a tie between South and Watauga.

Best road crowd for parents getting rowdy is Alexander because there parents will challenge students in the WHS student section and talk some trash. They are hard core.

Smackdowells crowd this past year was terrible. They had this kid who layed down on the floor. Whats up with that?
