most Dads will think spending more is better and these days, that can be in the $300 range. A good mid-line bat coupled with taking the $$$ you save and putting that $$$ towards professional hitting lessons will do your kid more good than a high dollar bat ever will.

I dunno G-Man. I'm looking into this new one that swings itself and guarantees contact. It's going to make pitchers into hitters....

On a serious note, we don't get many LL parents in here....I'm hoping we may have one that has a HS kid and a young'un. I'd like to hear what kind of bats they are using.

    youth bats

Like the College and HS leagues have done, composite bats are now outlawed for LL play. I assume that if they are not now, they will be shortly for Cal Ripken and Dixie youth as well. By the middle of the season, it will be easy to see who had more technology than ability. Of course that will be the case for College and HS as well. To say the game has changed with the reined in power from the bats, is an understatement.

My suggestion is like an earlier poster noted.....buy a good mid range bat and get some professional help with his swing.
