Big Cabarrus County Matchup

I agree it was a great game and I hope to also see a rematch in the Easter tournament. What do you guys think of Mounts chances to make any kind of run in the 2A playoffs if they make it?

 

After Josh, who pitches for the Tigers? Give us a run-down on the players if you could.

 

Clifton Odell is the #2 then Glenn Jones is the top reliever. Jones struck out the final 12 batters against W. Stanly. Both are pretty tough pitchers and are seniors.

 

The key to making a deep run is a deep pitching staff (and some luck). The Tigers have the pieces of the puzzle. Just have to put them together.

It helps if the defense plays consistently too, particularly in the playoffs when every run means soooooo much!!!!

Cabarrus Easter Tourney....

Tigers,,, to answer your question, "no" I don't have the brackets to this tournament just yet. I've only heard that the 5 Cabarrus teams (NW,K,MP,JMR,Con) will be playing with a team from Virginia, an eastern NC team and West Stanly (a total of 8 teams).

As for your question about Mt.Pleasant in the playoffs,,, I support all the local teams and will surely be pulling for the Tigers to win it all in the 2A ranks. With Benton pitching, you can beat anyone,,, you proved it yesterday against NW. As NCBBALLFAN said, the key to going DEEP in the playoffs is having more than "one" great pitcher. Because the teams get better with each round you advance. I'm not sure about your #2-#3 guys, but I know Coach Swanson has done a super job at MP and you guys will routinely play solid defense, which is a big key too. Good Luck!

Nothing against North Stanly and their great start,,,, but I'm actually picking you guys (MP) to come back and win the RRC yet again, so don't think that I'm against you. I'm not. I actually follow MP pretty closely, know Coach Swanson well and have much confidence in what your team "can" accomplish. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me at all if NW and MP ended up in the Easter championship game,,,,, except for one thing, I actually heard that the eastern NC team which is coming, is one of the powerhouse 4A teams from the east. Sorry, don't have a team name yet...

 

yea i cant wait till we play mount..face benton- we are determined to win the RRC this year and gotta beat benton somehow to do it..hes a horse a hill but he'll come down some how, i cant wait

SPCfan, yes I've heard the same thing,,, that the team from Virginia "AND" the team from eastern NC are both baseball superpowers. I will pass on team names as soon as I get them. Looking forward to a nice tournament with all the local flavor...

Btw, Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium is looking absolutely "beautiful" once again this spring...
