A new school and starting a new rumor

A new CMS school will join Ashbrook, East Gaston, South Point, East Lincoln and the other Big South 3A schools this year. The Berry Academy Cardinals will compete in the Big South 3A for 2 years. After that time, look for all of the conferences in the state to be redrawn yet again.

I expect that East Gaston and Ashbrook (due to their proximity to Charlotte-Mecklenburg and their rapid growth) will move to the 4A ranks and a couple of the smaller schools in the Meca 8 and SW4A (maybe Waddell?) will move to 3A classification.

Redrawing districts moved Independence out of the SW4A a few years ago. With increased growth and the need to consolidate conferences and diminish travel times, watch for them to jump back into the SW4A. The natural rivalry with Butler will be re-fired.

Central Cabarrus may move back into the Cabarrus County teams and down into the SPC. Look for Ashbrook and East Gaston to move to the Meca 8, replacing Indy and Central Cabarrus. Indy will nudge Waddell to the Big South 3A.....

    Just thinkin ......

TC Roberson has already surpassed AC Reynolds in student population. Look out NW 4-A.

i think I heard talk of Charlotte Christian joining some non-independent conference. Can anyone debunk or verify that?
