If he does, it will be the end of baseball as we know it---who gives a darn about Selig's mojo--he brought it on himself. What's done is done....I hate it for Galarraga, but it's obvious with the classy way he is handling this situation, he will reap many more "rewards" than had an out call been made. And with that class, he will preserve the sanity of an umpire who was making the best call he could. This is an important day for baseball---They have the chance to preserve the integrity of "America's Pasttime" by saying mistakes have always, and always will be, part of the game.

If Selig changes that call, he will open up Pandora's box---let this thing play out---let America's kids see how Galarraga is handling things---that lesson will be exponentially more important than a perfect game!!

The life lessons that are being learned are invaluable from this situation. Joe Magrane and Dave Valle both pointed out how baseball is an emotional roller coaster and how in the end the players understand how things are. Rodriguez got a Corvette, Jim Joyce got some closure at the plate conference and Cabrera and Baird both apologized after chewing Jim Joyce out the night before. The characteristics of mercy, honesty, integrity, compassion were all on display and those are lessons that kids and adults can take away from this incident.

At one time I had at least 5 Todd Worrell Topps Rookie cards in my collection along with some Scott Bankhead's. I bet if I looked again I would have all kinds of treasures up there.

    agree

I agree. And the display of these worthy character traits are not that common today in the ME generation.

Still I think we'll see an expansion of instant replay to get some of these baseball calls right.
