Bobby Guthrie

    ....Bobby was an excellent baseball player at UNC in the day.
    He left UNC and became one of the UNCW asst. coaches. His AD was Bill Brooks and I was proud to have both of them in my very limited recruiting life in HS.
    But limited or not, Bobby Guthrie made an impression on me I'll never forget. Many times I wake up thinking how cool it would have been to have played for him.
    Many years later, I was asked to help with the neighboring middle school softball team, I agreed to follow the rules of background checks etc and when I actually had the meeting with an adminstrator in the Public school system, it was Bobby Guthrie, not some behind the desk, state employee, no slander, but the head AD, period.
    Point is for a man to think so much of the kids under his realm to go to this extreme while we all know his duties stretch a long way, ...well to me thats a good man.
    Props for well deserved recognition.
