CFS lost out Friday Night to the Grapettes 5-4.
A tight strike zone caused Candice Faircloth to get hit by batted balls 3 times but she hung in there. A good showing for them and an unforgettable experience. I understand some of them are going to find out about life other than softball by going whitewater rafting on the Colorado today.

Lady Blues win first bracket game!

The Lady Blues won their first bracket game this morning, beating the Orange County, CA., Batbusters 6 - 3. Great team effort, as everyone contributed to the victory in some form or another. Constance Orr pitched a very nice ballgame, and the Blues showed their resilience by coming back from a 3 - 1 deficit after the first inning. Tons of coaches were watching this game, including Tennessee (Ray Weekley), North Carolina (Pappa), Purdue, Florida, Ball State, NC State, just to name a few.

Jasmine Robbins is absolutely "enfuego", going 7 for her last 7, including a grand slam (Sat. night game) and 3 doubles. She is drawing rave reviews from top universities.

    Other stats:
Taylor Allen 1 for 3; 2 run homer in top of seventh
    Stephanie Simmons 1 for 3 1 rbi
    Jessica Bonham 1 for 4 1 rbi
Stephanie Spain 1 for 3 sac, 2 rbi
Kara Gordon 2 for 3 sac fly, 1 run
    Jasmine Robbins 4 for 4 2 doubles, 2 runs,
    Courtney Powell 1 for 2 1 run
Constance Orr 1 for 4 double, 1 run

Blues hitting the ball well. 13 hits in total.
Not sure of Constance Orr's pitching stats, but believe she only gave up 4 hits at the most. Had several key strikeouts when they were needed.

Next game at 5pm vs. CA Socerer's Phi (another tough team from CAL)

NC Legacy Gold won their first bracket game as well, beating the NM Sundancers 7 - 0. Casey Faile complet game victory. Congrats!

    Pitcher

Just want to give an "at a girl" to Taylor Beam from NW Cab! This kid does not even get to pitch for her HS and dominated two Gold teams for big wins and pitched five innings giving up one run to the Irvine Socerors Gold on I believe four hits! This young lady deserves some major looks from a small D-1 or some quality D-11 schools as a pitcher! She also played right field and can play second base!

All the underclassmen and the 2009 kids stepped it up this week. Thank you ladies.

My girls were paid a huge compliment by Ralph Weekly today when he said he liked our teams playing style and enjoyed watching. Bev Smith of Carolina said the Batbuster game was one of better games she watched.

Look not bragging, just giving my young ladies some press as they truly gave it every ounce of energy they had today.

Getting compliments from Ralph Weekly and Beverly Smith is worth bragging about!!

Beverly Smith used to be available for pitching lessons around the UNC area. Don't know if she still does but she is one of the best coaches I've ever seen when working with a group of pitchers. She doesn't just show and tell them how, she's explains the why.

And Ralph Weekly, along with his wife, Karen, were the instructors at the high school coach's clinic in Greensboro last year.
