An athlete does not have to play for the so-called "big name" teams at all to get recruited by any school at any level. As long as whatever team you are on plays at the right tournaments then you're ok. It has a lot to do with how well a family markets their child. My dd got noticed plenty and got several nice offers without playing on the so-called "big name" teams. She's currently doing well and loving the college she chose. But we also marketed on our own.

We always taught our daughter about commitment and loyalty and to "bloom" where you're planted regardless of circumstances. She only played for 2 organizations all the years she played. One of those was one I started and folded. And she could have played for any "big name" team around.

my daughter only played on four teams in 7 years(aged out of one, two folded). none of them big name teams, and she got some nice offers, but chose education over ball. like I said before, college coaches will see talent no matter what team you play on. it's all in how you present yourself, play the game and the attitude you display.

Let Me Clear Up My Comment !!!--- 100 k Is Possible

I never said that some colleges would not exceed 100 k for a scholarship ...I said that I don't know many kids that have obtained that much scholarship monies from a university...in reality only 3-4 %, if that high will get a full ride to a D1 school...and if you are one of those individuals thank GOD above for your BLESSING !!!!

    lack

definitely a lack of commitment is common in a certain percent of today's teens, but it's probably always been that way.

I am turning over a new leaf and I sure wish some of you people would also. Some of you people make nothing but negative comments on this board and have nothing but negative, ignorant thoughts in your head.

I think this thread needs to be locked and we all need to have a group hug.
