You mention three Area I East North Division teams in your post, but only one from the South. You cannot have any idea how much stronger the South is.

If the commissioner hadn't forced a split on the league, and if we had played a round robin, the North would be lucky to get three teams in.

But that's why we have rankings: to let people argue.

    Raleigh,

    How are these divisions split?

I was kind of suprised no Kernersville mention.

    Edgecombe
    Ahoskie
    Edenton
    Beaufort
    Wilson
    Nash County

    Pitt 39
    Pitt 160
    Snow Hill
    New Bern
    Kinston
    Wayne County

Although Wayne is 13-2, six of its wins have come against Garner (down this season), Edgecombe (1-18), and Ahoskie (may not make the playoffs.)

The non-division records are North (19-28) and South (29-12). This includes games against non-Area I East teams. It was taken from this site and includes two updates: http://nclegion.org/srbaseball.htm

Some perspective: beginning in 1991, either Pitt 39 or Wayne or both have appeared in the AIE title series. In the same time, only Rocky Mount (Nash County) from the other division has won it: once, in 1995. In that same time, Pitt (7), Wayne (6) and Snow Hill (2) each have won more titles than the other division put together. Post 39 is going to be hurt by the 160 program from now on.

That's why I'm skeptical about Edenton.

BTW...Durham beat Nash County last week and it wasn't close.

Them East Boys ain't gonna like it with 10 West and only 5 East teams....LOL

Lets hook up next year and try and do a TBR poll....I could give everyone the base teams with records and let everyone vote

Comparing teams based on non-division outcomes against each other is a risky business. Even if we had played more games this season, we would not have thrown our top pitchers for long stretches against teams that we didn't need to beat to make the playoffs. And as we all know, any team can stink it up.

I was not aware that Area II gets one team.

I saw that Nash County score; I think Caldwell smacked Rutherford last night as well. Baseball is the hardest sport to gauge as far as a poll. Every team has at least one pitcher who could shut just about anyone down on a given night if they are hot and the other team is not.

I would like to do the poll with you next year provided time allows. I don't think our opinion differs very much. I was ready to put Rowan at the top, until Steedley went down. Now I'm not 100% sure they are going to get out of Area III South.
