I just want to mention a few names of players who are deserving of respect but at times " play under the radar ":

    1) Rob Wilson- everybody knows who he is, but I don't believe everyone knows how good he is. He can do everything well. He can mash the ball with anybody, play any position in the field and can pitch when needed. Rob has really worked hard this past winter to gain strength and weight and it is really paying off for him this year. He is Mr. Unsung as far as Braves is concerned and would vote Rob and Robert Woodard as MVP's of their conference.

    2) David Teague- I have been an advocate of David's for 2 years now. If you need a key hit or run then let David bat. I firmly believe the Teagues placed a bat in his hands when born and David swung at the Dr. then and hasn't missed with the bat since. This kid is an all star

    3) Shawn Neal- Wow...just goes to show Braves doesn't know everything. I didn't know nor ever heard of Shawn until this year. This kid can play. A second baseman for East Meck, he has sure hands and a nice bat...smoooooth. I was very impressed with Shawn's abilities and hope he garners the interest he deserves.

    Two pitchers...

    1) Charles Vartainian- again, everyone knows V-man, but to really appreciate what he does, you won't find in the boxscores.
Charles always faces the toughest teams pitching their #1. His record could easily be 8-0...just goes to show that HS statistics are deceiving. The kid throws gas, has a nice breaking pitch and a presence ( 6'7"...230) on the mound. You know every time he pitches, your team will have a chance to win.

    2) Carl Krimminger- if what they say is true, that a pitcher will only have his A game every 3rd or 4th game, imagine what it's like to pitch for Waddell....knowing every game that you are the underdog. Yet, this kid pitches his rotation and every time he throws, the Raiders believe they have a shot at winning....and they have this year! The 1-0 pitching performance against Olympic is impressive and deserving of attention.

....I will list more names later, but this is a good start.

Nice start Braves --- but you know when I put my vote in for Wilson as conference most outstanding player I was blasted for picking the "obvious" choice.

I'll add three to your list now, more later --

JJ Rollins, junior catcher/DH at Myers Park -- the guy can hit -- his rbi total has to be way up there, and he has a cannon behind the plate.

Joey Savago, sophmore catcher at East Meck -- clutch hitter for the surprise co-leaders of the SW4A, has lots of poise behind the plate, too.

Thomas Hovis, sophmore #1 pitcher for Olympic and also plays 1B. Was on the other end of Krimminger's 1-0 victory. Really can spot his pitches and can hit, too. He's gonna be a good 'un.
