Chase Jones was a player at North Carolina via Ragsdale HS who was diagnosed with cancer as a college freshman. He fought it bravely through Chemo, radiation, and surgical operations and had a golf ball size tumor removed from his brain. He then came to the coaching staff and asked if he could do anything to help the team since his condition had left him unable to play sports. He wanted to do anything and he began to catch bullpens and throw BP.during his 5 years as a part of the Tar Heel program he was one of the biggest reasons for the success we achieved.
During his time at UNC he created 'Basebald' for a cure. The team raised money at UNC and a player will shave his head in support of pediatric cancer for every $100 raised. After graduation, St. Baldricks hired Chase to take his creation national. This weekend Elliot Avent and Tom Walter will shave their heads as support for this in the State v Wake ACC weekend series. UNC is also participating again.
Brevard College is participating in Basebald this year. I have attached a link below. Feel free to look at all the schools participating. If you would like to donate to our cause the donate button is easy to find. We are over $3,200 and want to crush our goal of $4,500. If you find another team that is participating that you have a better connection with please donate to them...we don't care who raises the money but rather we care about the children this will help.
I will be the first in the chair - Hair is overrated.

As alluded to here, Chase inspired an entire team of players and coaches while at UNC; and it's tremendous to see his effort broadened.

A huge "well done," to Chase and each program that has followed him in his cause!
