Same with Mailman I talked to him a little bit about it. He said he would probably try and sign sometime in early August. If not he will go to school. Good Luck Mail!

I haven't talked to Madison personally but from what some who know have told me they are waiting till sometime in August after he turns 18. From what they said it is going to be less complicated if he signs then than while still 17. Look for him to sign 1st or 2nd week of Aug.

    Is that when UNC starts?

Of course, he can always transfer to Juco or Naia or Juco school where their 1st day is later.

My personal feeling is both will sign with the pros. Regardless of where Mailman was drafted, he is getting low round money.

    ??

not sure, I seemed to recall they changed that rule to a specific date, and not all the different dates according to the various dates that different schools begin their classes. again, not sure of this.

Not sure how they can do that. Despite the NCAA's dream of controlling all the levels of college, they play no role in the rules of the Juco's or NAIA. If Madison hasn't reached a deal by the school's 1st day, he has other options, ala, Cameron Maybin and Upton

    August 15th Clarification

A Club generally retains the rights to sign a selected player until 11:59 PM (EDT) August 15, or until the player enters, or returns to, a four-year college on a full-time basis. A player who is drafted and does not sign with the Club that selected him may be drafted again at a future year's Draft, so long as the player is eligible for that year's Draft. A Club may not select a player again in a subsequent year, unless the player has consented to the re-selection.

A player who is eligible to be selected and is passed over by every Club becomes a free agent and may sign with any Club until the player enters, or returns to, a four-year college full-time or enters, or returns to, a junior college.
