Braves, about the only way I can get hurt is if My old bones can't get out of the way coaching 3rd base. I let those young men play most of the time, but I have been known to play if we have to forfeit. I pray that don't happen very often.

POST 29 WINS AREA IV TITLE

    Caldwell 9

    Pineville 1

Sorry I didn't get to make it to the game tonight. Listen to it on the radio and Derek Coffey showed alot of heart going 9 innings, giving up 5 hits.
Caldwell had it going at the plate with 16 hits. Way to go 9ers...BACK TO BACK TO BACK area IV Titles...thats awesome. Caldwell is not through...

    CALDWELL WINS AREA IV TITLE

Thanks for that. The 29ers are really a special group of young men and they keep proving it year in and year out with the talent and the show of heart. Messer is a great kid and only a rising junior at South Caldwell. Derek Coffey backed Messer up with another great performance on the mound tonight. Bats came alive with 16 hits. Pineville has a really good ball-club and nothing to be ashamed of in this series. One thing at this level...you cannot have errors and win ballgames. My hat is off to you for beating Cherryville and sending them home.

Just wanted to say thank you. The mere fact that would even mention Cherryville after winning the area IV championship is definitely a compliment to Post 100.

I would just like to throw a congratulations out to Caldwell on another area 4 title as disgusted as I am to admit it. Winning the Area 4 title is really probably as tough if not tougher than taking the state title and for them to do it three years in a row is beyond impressive. There has been alot of criticism about this team because of the absence of players for much of the season and then the return of them with a less than stellar record late in the season. The truth is this wasn't one of the Caldwell teams of the past that may not have had the talent but came at you on all cylinders as a team and capitalized on your mistakes. There was some ego and a little more flash but at the end of the day, they still showed up to play. For the last three years I've sat back and been amazed when Caldwell loses. Everytime we have played them it seems like they are an unstoppable machine. We have managed to get a couple wins in at home, but M.S. Deal is not going to be a place I miss. I never experienced a win there and don't really see how anybody ever manages to. I can't say Caldwell players and coaches are always at the top of my favorites list, but I respect the heck out of them and I have to say that we sure can't beat them and I think we have had a hell of a team a couple times, so as far as I'm concerned put the money on them in the State tournament because they always seem to come through.

First of all, thanks for the kind words. As someone thats been in the Shelby/Caldwell battles, I respect he hell out of the Post 82 program. I thought I saw a couple of the Shelby coaches at Pineville last night, I appreciate them putting in an appearance and supporting the area (and hopefully us). Good luck to you and the entire Post 82 program.

The knockdown dragout wars in Legion baseball are special. I still say the only way to compare Caldwell, Cherryville, Shelby, Pineville legion baseball is to look at to UNC, Duke, NC State, Wake Forest basketball. And when you play one of those teams you might hate them, but at the end of the day you have to have some respect for them.

Kinda goes to the old political line, I don't care if love me or hate me... just spell my name right.
