    Midland approached Madison about playing there this summer, but he will be gone from here soon enough. Why rush it?
    Also, Madison's Dad is not associated with Post 29 in any way. He's not Steve Bumgarner, nor is he Wes Bumgarner. His name is Kevin Bumgarner.

    Caldwell Post 29 vs Rowan Co

    Caldwell Post 29 lost to Rowan Co tonight but the major story is the freak accident where shortstop Josh Shehan was hit in the head with a bat that slipped from the hands of another Caldwell player and flew into the dugout....

    The most important thing is Josh Shehan is okay. He was rushed to Rowan Medical Center and is being looked at as I type this. His head was cut pretty badly and is going to require closing. He was always awake and aware of what was going on. All things considered, everyone is extremely lucky. It could have been much worse.

    I would like to thank the Rowan Co EMTs and first responders who rushed to our dugout.

    Please keep our team and Josh in particular in your prayers.

    Someone made reference to him being associated with Caldwell Post on another thread. Not being from your area, I took that as the case. Thank you for clarifying that

    I love to report good news.

    Josh Shehan got stitched up in Rowan Co last night and got home about 2am or so this morning. No concussion or bone damage. From what AD Steve Bumgardner told me this morning, his jaw was hurting where the handle of the bat came around and got him. But nothing worse at that time.

    A true testament to a tough tough kid, he was awake the whole time and when the EMTs were checking him out he was totally aware and talking.

    Thanks again to the medical team that rushed to the dugout and to everyone who said a little prayer...
