Come on please! DO you really think that he is the only reason that he SC stands were filled. I thought there were more kids on that team than MB, I know for a fact he wasn't the draw for me and my family.

You are correct, they are more kids on the team, but looking at the past baseball attendence, Madison played a huge factor in the numbers produced in attendance. People drove from other counties to see him pitch, as I would if there were another prospect any where in the area. Whether you came to the game to see him succeed or just came hoping to see him fall on his face. numbers don't lie attendance was UP!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the way you need to work on that jealousy thing NOT PRETTY!!!!!!!!!!!

Numbers could also be up because South Caldwell was having an awesome season...if I remember correctly undefeated for a long time. That brings out the fans. Not just one player. Sure there are those that will come to see MB and he is an awesome player...but most come to support a team of good players.

I guess I am an IDIOT!

First let me apologize to Madison and his family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As I said in my previous post, I am not blaming Madison for the loss. I just ask a very simple question, "why did he not pitch Game 2". I was told it was because he was pitching at a showcase in Wilmington later in the week. That is all the information I had. All the additional information I got was "it was for his future" and a whole lot of "other stuff". That was a pretty open ended answer. I guess I am an idiot as u-r-out has pointed out. I guess I was looking for an answer such as "it is a showcase for x-number of major league teams and he committed to it several months ago and if he does not show up it could be held against him". I followed that up with what will he gain at this showcase that he could not get at a future showcase or appearance (such as the AFLAC All-Star game). Which I thought was a legitimte question. It may not be. I don't know. That is the reason I was asking the great baseball minds on this message board. I have been a fan for several years, but I do not know the ins and outs of big time baseball. I just know that a lot of people in Caldwell County have been asking me the same questions including some of his Post 29 teammates. I guess that is because people know I am a big fan and went to the championship games. And since I have been asked repeatedly, I thought I would ask in a forum that might answer those questions and if you go back and look at my first post, I directed it to someone in the Post 29 Program. I know I came across very harsh in my first post and I apologize for that, but I just could not figure out the answer to the question. I do not expect to be consulted on any decision about Madison's future, never have never will. But I respectfully disagree with u-r-out in that Madison did not let anyone down. Too many people are talking about it including teammates who have said that they were disappointed and let down by his decision. And to MB Fan Club, it was a surprise to some people including his teammates who did not find out till game 1 was over that he was not pitching game 2 and it definitely showed at the start of game 2. I think MOOSE said it best, sometimes we must also think about the program!

Again I apologize to Madison if I have said anything to offend him or his family. I just don't understand the situation and I hate to hear the disappointment from the players that do not have another chance.

Nothing to be jealousy of. Way too much ego on your part. MB has proven he is not a team player.

It's time to shut this one down....it was suppose to be used for Post 29 and not "bashing" Madison and his family's decision!!!!

Enough is enough....keep on the topic or we are done!

Wow, I'm really amazed at what I've seen in this thread since about page 15. I was telling someone just the other day how I thought Caldwell had some really baseball saavy fans and how with all their success and history they have not "broke down" like other successful teams had with pointing fingers. I thought that is what made that community stand out in this part of the state. I guess I was wrong. I grew up playing against these guys, hated to lose to them (although most of the time we did). From Little League to High School to Legion, I couldn't stand playing Caldwell County teams because they always seemed to find ways to win. Now watching and reading about their teams they still win alot, but there is an element in the community that wasen't there in the past. It's really too bad too, I've actually grown to enjoy watching Caldwell and really respect their players and fans, but with these posts it really brings them down a notch in my book. They Caldwell Co. teams have some great coaches (High School & Legion) and have some pretty good kids (attitude & ability) and its just too bad the fans can't enjoy that.

Congrats Caldwell Co. (& S. Cald) on a great season. Good luck to all the players in their future endevours - especially the 6'6" Lefty who throws hard, but works just a little too fast on the mound for my taste :imagestor .
