Squid....I like that, but it amazing what a little "cobbling" can do to win a ball game or two.

I hoping we can "cobble" together a little more to get by these next two games and maybe win a playoff game.

Whoever we see we will try and pull together one or two of our position guys to get our thin starting pitching through the game....good luck to everyone in the playoffs:satana:

Sorry to hear about that, hope all goes well for Jared with the surgery.
Your right then, the starting pitching will take a little dip but they can still hit pretty well.

Caldwell appears to be gaining some punch.

After starting the season 0-5 in the conference with 90% of the team still playing for South Caldwell during that time, and with the best player/pitcher Madison Bumgarner having only been able to play in 4 games all year........the 29ers have had a strange and difficult road.

Another of the teams top players, Shane Clawson, had knee surgery Monday.

Coach Hamby said Tuesday the team was clearly looking to the playoffs and he would make sure, with little regard to the last few games of the regular season, that the teams pitching was rested and ready for the playoffs.

The 29ers fell to Asheville and their ace pitcher Blaine Howell on Tuesday night by a score of 4-3 at AC Reynolds. Caldwell left the bases loaded in the first inning and in the ninth inning both innings having them loaded with no outs.

In the ninth Madison Bumgarner laced a pitch in the right centerfield gap (with 2 outs, bases loaded) but the Asheville rightfilder made a "ESPN Play of the Day" diving catch to end the game.

Caldwell lost the game, but may have found something much bigger and better than a win. South Caldwell's part time starter at shortstop, Andrew Berry, came on in relief of Caldwell starter Matt Gragg and pitched 5 shut out innings and looked suberb in doing it.

Berry had spent a few days lately working with coaches in the bullpen and he may have not only added depth to Caldwell's staff but may be used a lot down the stretch.

    Welcome Back Maddy

well, I am scratching my head last night after a bunch of 5'8" 135# guys from Gaston were beating the snot out Pville before the rain came... and the game was for a share of the division lead.

From what I understand, Shane will be back in a week or two. I think they had to roto-rooter some side effects from football out... Hes a pretty good running back at South Caldwell too... its been coming for a while. He had to be taken out from the baseball games in Chapel Hill because it was giving him some trouble.

Little testament to a dying breed of baseball player here, some players get a hang nail and are out for a week. It hurts Shane to walk some days, but he still played baseball full out and would never take a step back.

Hey Squid...no reason to scratch your head....we just got what was called an "Old Fashioned Butt Whuppin" last night!!!!!

You can't kick the ball around, throw the ball around and leave runners on base and win many ball games....our weak pitching:woot: was actually pretty good, we just didn't provide them much support in the field or at the plate.

Hat's off to the Gaston Braves....they came out a played a very good ball game and handed it to us....Congrats to the Braves on taking the Division out right.
