As a baseball fan and a firefighter I want to pass this on to all baseball fans out there. Please pass this on to everyone you know, I'm sure it touches just about everyone from public service (fire, police, medic, rescue workers) or someone you know in the military.

PINEVILLE, NC. - In 2011, the Heroes of the Diamond will complete the "Road to Ground Zero Flag Tour" presented by Ashford University. On Friday, July 15, the Town of Pineville and the residence of the Charlotte community shall be bestowed the honor to participate in this historic tour at Jack Hughes Park.

On site when President George W. Bush delivered his famous "Bullhorn Speech" following the tragedy of Sept. 11, the Ground Zero Flag has been presented to thousands of heroes in ceremonies from Iraq to Afghanistan over the past decade. In 2011, the Ground Zero Flag will be presented all over the nation offering everyone in America the opportunity to honor and touch during its last leg of its cross-country journey back to New York for the 10th commemoration of 9-11.

The Heroes of the Diamond. Founded in 1990, at the request of President G.W. Bush, the Heroes of the Diamond are the only team in the world to feature players from every branch of the military and first responders. For over 20 years the team has been dedicated to the proud tradition of Promoting the Awareness and Support of our brave Armed Forces and First Responders.

The Ground Zero Flag will be presented on the field during our National Anthem and then again at 9:11 p.m., when the game will be halted for the presentation of God Bless America. The Veterans Council will perform both the National Anthem and God Bless America. In between the National Anthem and the performance of God Bless America, the Ground Zero Flag will be displayed and fans will have an opportunity see and even touch the Flag.
Fans that donate to the Heroes of the Diamond or purchase one of their books will be automatically entered into a raffle to win one of their Heroes of the Diamond game jerseys.
