I believe it would be a good idea for the home team to have the responsibility of calling in game scores.

Softball doesn't get enough coverage as it is. The least teams could do is keep the local media informed of games and scores.

Maybe this is an issue that the NCHSAA could settle by way of guidelines.

Why just the home team? What if the visiting team lives in a town halfway across the state; should the home team know what paper to call?

As scorekeeper for my DD's teams, I would report the box score and a short game summary to the local paper, including the local "neighborhood" weekly paper that the local paper distributes to "our side of town" once per week.

Even for middle school the score nearly always got published. For HS, the score always got published, sometimes the box score made it. The neighborhood paper often published the game summary and I even had a reporter attempt to turn the game summaries for a tournament into a feature story about the team's accomplishment (although he made several errors in his re-intepretation).

What I'm trying to say is, pick someone on YOUR team to report every score. All it takes is an e-mail.

Didn't think about that. Thanks. Both teams should call it in.
