Well here goes nothing. I want to apologize up front if I forgot to mention a player’s name from a team. Please feel free to add to the list top Cap 7 players.
    Jonathan, I hope this helps.

    Cap 7 players to watch:

    Broughton
Jonathan Redd--Senior 6’3 LHP/1B, looks great on the bump and can pitch equally as well. A strong hitter from the left side. I am sure he will hit several over the fence this year. Fun player to watch.

Jake Kline-- Junior OF/INF, FAST, FAST, FAST 6.7 60 time. When he gets on base go ahead and put him on 3rd because he will be there before you know it. Great glove and a solid gap hitter.

Daniel Brown--Junior P/OF, One of the best outfield arms I have seen. Runners rounding second better watch out he is in the OF. He will throw you out at 3rd from RF with no problem. When he is on the mound he has one of the better breaking balls in the conference.

Michael Zeblo-- Junior INF/P, Dangerously strong hitter from either side of the plate. Hits with pure power. Has a cannon of a arm from 3rd and also does quite well in the middle infield.

    Leesville
Sean Steinbugler--Senior P/3B, RHP that throws in the mid 80’s with great command of the strike zone with his pitches. A big strong athletic body that can crush the baseball. A game changer for Leesville at the plate.

Ethan Brown--Senior C/1B, Another strong hitter for Leesville. Hitting is by no means a weakness on this baseball team. Runners beware when he is behind the dish. Great baseball knowledge on how the game should be played.

Thomas Wilson--Senior SS/P, One of the top Quarterbacks in the state. Played in the NC/SC shrine bowl. Enough said, a pure athlete.

    Sanderson
Mark Peterson--Senior UNC-G Commit P/3B/1B, Should be the teams ace on the mound. Throws in the upper 80’s with a nasty change up. Pitched a shutout against Pinecrest in the second round of the state playoffs. A strong body that can really crush the ball. Plays with a lot of emotion.

Charles Wolfe--Junior P/1B, Rookie of the year in the Cap 7 and led the team in hitting last year. 6’4 and still growing. Great fundamentals on the rubber and should be a very dominate force on the mound for Sanderson this year. He can also steal bases on you if you are not watching. Has a good jump on his steals.

Max Gagnon--Junior C/P, A very strong body player behind the plate. He dares runners to take second on him. 2.0 pop time and below. I have seen runners stop in between first and second in amazement as he throws them out. He is also a very powerful hitter. One of the few players to ever hit the ball over the fence at Sanderson’s deep field.

Kyle Wigmore--Junior SS/P, A very good defensive player. Can handle the deep in the hole play to the slow roller with ease and grace. Has started every game at short and been leadoff hitter for the varsity since being a freshman. He has been a gap hitter but now is generating power at his bat. Comes in as a closer in the pitching role.

I will be adding to this later today and covering Wake Forest, Enloe, Millbrook and Wakefield the best I can if I do not get lynched by any parents today. :dizzy2:

    Cap 7-The Second Half

I did not get lynched YET:hurray: today so I will continue the Cap 7.

    Wakefield
    Jeremy Dowdy
--Senior App State Commit C/1B, Been the man behind the dish for several years. Good strong body that hits with power. He racks up doubles and triples against you. Is one of the big bats in Wakefield’s lineup.

Brian Yueng--Senior Wingate Univ Commit 3B/P, What a great kid!!! A real team player. He is a dangerous batter to have to face. Another strong hitter for Wakefield, like they need another one. Due to a arm injury not sure if he will be on the mound this year. What a shame he was really coming along good.

Brice Hursey-- Senior Chowan Univ Commit 2B/OF, A gritty middle infielder with great range that should anchor their infield. A really good gap hitter with nice base speed. A big plus to anybodies lineup.

    Wake Forest
    Mac Williamson
--Senior WFU Commit P/OF, What can I say that has not been said already about this Kid. Super gentleman and great baseball player with a heck of a future

Taylor Gleason--Junior OF/SS, Not sure which position he will play this year but is a firecracker of a player. Has great speed in the field. And on the bases he is very dangerous. After the game he has the dirtiest jersey of anybody on the field. A very good gap hitter and leadoff batter.

Marshall Walter--Senior P/SS, He is a crafty RHP. Has good control of his many pitches. His knuckle ball is just nasty. Plays a solid infield with good arm strength from the hole. Also can be a game changer with his bat.

BaseballBuzz (Mac’s Mon) Maybe you can help me out with some of the people that I might have left off for Wake Forest

    Millbrook
    Travis Smith
--Senior Chowan Univ Commit P/1B, Should be Millbrook’s ace pitcher this year. A real talent on the mound. He will get you to hit ground balls if he does not strike you out. Keeps the ball down in the zone and shows mid to upper 80’s with super command of his pitches.

Jake Harris--Junior P/1B, A very smart left handed pitcher. Does not show tremendous amount of speed in his pitches but sure keeps the ball on the corners with great accuracy. That is what counts. He keeps the ball away from the hitters bat. Should have a very good year on the mound. Also can be a clutch hitter.

Josh Suggs--Senior C, A very strong body behind the plate with great arm action and strength. He can flat out smash the baseball. When he makes contact, watch out!!!

    Enloe
Matt Jurek--Junior P/INF, Another pure athlete. Has been Enloe’s starting QB for the past couple of years. Was Cap 7’s Rookie of the Year his Freshman year in baseball.
His main pitch is his curve ball and you will see that a lot from him during a game.

Roland Mauer--Junior 3B, He plays the corner really well defensively. Great baseball instincts on how to play the game. Does a fine job at the plate with his bat. I am not sure what his batting average was last year but I do remember a lot of 2-3’s and 2-4’s. Pitchers do not take him to lightly.

Dan Bula--Junior C, A fun guy to watch play the game. He controls the team from behind the dish. Calling out plays and defenses. You can tell he just loves the game of baseball. Has a smile on his face all the time. He along with Mauer make a nasty combo at the plate with their bats. Dan also seems to get 2 to 3 hits a game. Very consistent hitter.

I know I have left some players off that deserve to be mention but I listed the ones that I have seen the last couple of years that made an impression on me. Please add other players that you feel are game changers in the conference.
There was a comment made earlier on the board about the talent being down in Baseball in the Raleigh area. If so it was sure a short stay as the Raleigh area has some really great talent in the varsity ranks this year. A lot of these players are juniors now, just wait until next year and we will see if you are saying the same thing.

I'll agree there are many excellent players in the CAP7 this season. I have seen many of these players perform and coached several of them this past summer. If these players have the seasons they are capable of, it will definitely be a tight race in the CAP7.

Best of luck to all in this race I look forward to seeing you this spring!!

I would keep an eye on their pitching staff. A good friend of mine who I played ball with down at Lenoir CC has taken over the pitching coach duties there I believe. His name is Blake Herring and I am sure some of you are familiar with him. Great baseball mind and he is destined to be a great coach. From Snow Hill (Green Central HS) and then Lenoir CC, and he just finished up his career at Campbell University.

If there is pitching talent on that roster, they will reach their full potential under Blake.

    I remember Blake

we faced off against Greene Central three different times. I remember he was a big ole boy on the hill and was very good. Im glad he is getting into coaching.

    Mark Peterson

Was not aware Mark had committed to UNC-G. That's great news. Congratulations to Mark, Ralph and family. Mark is a great kid and bulldog on the mound. He completes hard every time out, plays a great third base and can rake. Really thought he should have made Region 3 state games team last year. I remember him depositing one about half-way into the parking lot at Louisburg. Cograts again, UNCG got a good one!
