    Cape Cod All-Stars

Also noticed that Brett Bartles (04 AL Brown HS, Kannapolis) is on the west team.

Congrats to all these local players.

    just to toss it in...
in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League
    several locals were all stars...

    Sam Pierce "Charlotte"
    Brett Shore "Davidson"
    Greg Conrad "Lenoir-Rhyne

Davidson Copperhead Greg Conrad was the Most valuable Pitcher of the 2006 SCBL All-Star game facing just 4 batters in his one inning pitched. Greg gave up no hits, no walks and struck out two with the only batter reaching doing so on a dropped third strike.

    Cape Cod All Star Circus

Read an article today on the Baseball America website about the Cape Cod All Star game. Eighty-some scouts showed up to watch what they said essentially turned out to be a circus, with position players pitching, players not running out ground balls to first base, etc. Matt LaPorta, a projected first round pick in 2007, took the mound for an inning or two and said he hadn't pitched since he was a freshman in high school. Scouts said the game was so bad there would likely be a prayer meeting soon between representatives of the MLB clubs and the Cape Cod League to find out what was going on. Hey Goose, did you pitch?
