Casey Faile is having a great start to her LSU career. Yesterday, in her first start, she earned a complete game victory over Tulsa, scattering 5 hits, while striking out 6. Casey also contributed to the teams offensive efforts, going 1 for 3, with a double, that eventually ended up being the winning run.

Congrats to Casey. I know we will be hearing more from her soon at LSU. Hopefully someday soon, we might see a match up of Ashton Ward vs. Casey Faile in a big game between two perennial powerhouse teams. Congrats to both ladies for making a statement that the talent here in the local Charlotte area can play at the high DI level.

    Casey's stats: 1 win, 0 losses, 7 appearances, 15.2 IP, 9 hits, 20 K's, 4BB
ERA 1.34 (lowest of 4 pitchers on LSU)

Here is an excerpt from the LSU website about Casey's performance:

In the nightcap, freshman Casey Faile got her first career start in the circle as well as at the plate. The Kershaw, S.C., native earned her first win in a complete-game effort, allowing two runs on five hits with a pair of walks and six strikeouts. At the plate, she contributed to the effort, going 1-for-3 with a double that set up the go-ahead two-RBI double by Shannon Stein.
“I thought Casey pitched a good game,” said Girouard. “She pitched a complete game and got her own RBIs.”
