    Ross Whitley first start Sunday pitched 5 shutout innings before allowing one run in the sixth ; Whitley now (1-0) . Lomascolo started the openner Sunday an also allowed only one run thur six ; moving to (2-0). Whitley and Lomascolo are freshman from Lake Norman 09 (3a NPC) starting to get a feel for the college level . Great print on the Catawba team and player at www.salisburypost.com

    Craige Lyerly is a beast. Had his 39 game hit streak snapped the other day in a weather shortened game, but is batting .469 with 10 rbi's through 8 games. Lyerly batted .444 last year. Wade Moore, NCSU transfer, is batting .407 and has stolen 12 stolen bases in 8 games.
