It's a rhetorical phrase. The game was played - but according to some on here it wasn't "played".

No need to close this thread, it will die down as soon as the game is over or take off again. There are almost 2000 hits on this thread, must not be in its death throngs yet. I see a lot of threads that could be closed if you want to close a thread. There are a lot of threads that have only 1/10th the interest based upon how many views and comments have gone on. I am sure that the moderators have many functions but to me one of those functions should be like an umpire is during a ball game. The umpire helps facilitate the flow of the game but should not dictate the outcome. Same here with the moderators, pull the plug if it gets out of hand but warn those individuals first but otherwise lets see how it turns out. I think people can get passionate and have a lively debate without turning personal. The majority of posts on these threads have been just fine. If you can't be at the game this is the only place outside of Charlotte to really find out what happened at the game. Not the newspapers, radio or even TV but TBR.

the entire central cabbarus coaching staff they know the rules, no video equipment is to be used to give any team an advantage, first and foremost stealing signs, i'm not saying thats what they did, i'm just going on what i've heard and what i've read but i've had the oppurtunity to see central cabbarus play, coach sherrill's 1-9 players can all hit...but it still comes down to one simple thing the batter has to put the ball in play and find a hole...this may make me sound like i'm goin back on what i just said, but if a catcher behind the plate spreads out to the point that i can see the signal or if a pitcher is tipping off a certain pitch before she comes together is that doing something wrong or illegal, no way, that's part of the game, also as a coach it is my responsibility for my girls to do anything i possible can to give them an advantage right up to the point where people might think we go too far, but it is also the opponent's job to make sure i do not get that advantage....here's a hint if you think the coach across the field has your signals use that to your advantage...coach sherrill is taking alot of heat this past week, been out of town...so we all need to just wait and see what comes out of this, and if it is found out central cabbaruss did what everyone thinks they did a penalty must be inforced but it is very hard for me to believe that central cabbarus would do something that would jepordize the outcome of a game, i'm pretty sure the young ladies would rather be beat on the field the way it should be...central cabbarus is very well prepared, i believe they put the work in day in/day out and it shows in the way they play the game, they play every pitch...it may sound like i'm a supporter of central cabbarus NO WAY...i am all KM...coach sherrill, everybody knows you are in total control of the programn you know what goes on from day one to season's end, so if you did do what you are accussed of, step up and admit it then take your pentalty and move on...we need to let these young ladies concentrate mainly on the game and stop all this bickerring back and forth coaches and parents...i havent typed this much in my life, but i'll leave you with this, my wife tells me before i get out of the truck at every game, that i need to enjoy the game, enjoy the talent the good lord has given my daughter because one day there will be no more softball and i'll have to look back, hopefully to some really good times and just remember the games
