After a highly successful tour as the Head Baseball Coach at Central Cabarrus the past 12 years, Bryan Tyson is leaving CC and will be the Head Coach for Mt.Pleasant HS's 2A baseball program. Longtime CC assistant Eric Laws is also leaving CC to go to Mt.Pleasant with Tyson. Coach Tyson has an overall 215-89 record in his 12 years at Central Cabarrus and his teams have made the state playoffs the past 11 consecutive years. His teams have consistently competed for conference championships and he has helped numerous players extend their playing careers into college and several others being drafted and getting paid to play. Mt.Pleasant already has a very respectable baseball program in the 2A ranks and no doubt will become a consistent state contender in years to come with this move.

Also to help Coach Tyson at Mt.Pleasant, one of his former players Justin Ridenhour was just hired at Mt.Pleasant Middle School and will be the Head baseball coach at that school, so there's no doubt the middle schoolers will be prepared to win when they reach Coach Tyson and Coach Laws at the HS level.

Mt.Pleasant HS obviously went after the BEST BASEBALL people they could get in order to lead their respective baseball programs at their middle school and high school,,,,,,,,, it would be nice to see other schools in the area take as much interest in their baseball programs too instead of just giving the job to a teacher who wants it, or someone who is admittedly a part-time baseball coach because he has interests in other sports. Congrats to MP on these additions, your good baseball program just got much better.

    mount pleasant

Mount should be in good shape to compete for the RRC next year. They have two stud pitchers in Garrett Furr, and Cody Walker. Tyson's guidance will only make them better. What happened to the coach for mount this past year? I thought he did a good job bringing along a very young team and peaking at the right time of year. Tyson's experience will be really help this program. It's that guidance that they have been missing the last few years, that's really hurt them. This is a big time move to get better quick and also for the long run. They( the school) got this move right.

This is a good example of just how important coaching is at the high school level. Because although Mt.Pleasant has had very good years (especially under Swanson), Coach Tyson will immediately elevate them to one of the best (if not THE BEST) HS baseball program in the county for sure, and possibly this 2-3 county area. Great move by the MP school officials in providing their future players the best opportunity to grow as baseball players.

CountryBoy17,,,,, you were discussing with me about buying a hamburger,,,, you rascal, you went out and got a steak. Congrats.

As much as I'd like to get the credit, I had nothing to do with hiring Tyson/Laws. I know each and had some discussions, but it was the MPHS
Principal and AD that made this happen. Hats off to them!

Steak with all the trimmings, desert and a cold drink! :cheers2:

Ridenhour at the Middle School under Tyson's tutelage will be MAJOR in the success of your program, Tyson knows what he's doing. There are "some" HS coaches who simply have no interaction (know that for a fact) nor do they seem to even care who their middle school coach is, and consequently if their players don't play travel ball or get individual instruction, the players won't be ready when they reach HS. Tyson's connection to this middle school coach is a major plus also.

Agree, there is also the deal where he holds camps during the summer for kids of all ages to come and get instruction for a nominal fee and the money goes back into the program. So really he starts at the rec league and continues through to middle school to get that continuity from the ground level up.
Also he has Eric Laws, in my opinion, one of the best pitching coaches around. Eric is a good man that loves the game and loves teaching kids the game of baseball.
He can teach all kids of all ages and knows how to get on their level.
So all in all, it's a really good deal for the Mount Pleasant community!
