Championship Format

    How many of you softball fans are satisfied with the current final 4 teams having to play as many as 5 games in a 24 hour period? In baseball the 2 east teams and the 2 west teams play a best of 3 series and then the winners meet for a best of 3 series for the state championship. Don't the girls deserve as much?

    The format, along with the locale, is discussed each year. Many seem to embrace what I term the "glorified travel ball tournament" that the NCHSAA holds each year. I think the creek is a bad venue. Sorry fields, slow concessions and not spectator friendly. With all the new college stadiums available (add ECU next year to App, WCU, NCSU, UNC, UNCG) I would prefer something more akin to baseball but I seem to be in the minority.

    Softball Venues

    I don't think you are in the minority dukedog. I also would like to see the venue moved to the nicer college venues. Maybe have the championships at different venues every year. I think our girls deserve better.

    Great point Homer, NCHSAA makes a rule and then breaks it for their convenience.

    B Mac How many innings did the WF pitcher pitch in 24 hours ? Pitch count? With the latest concerns over pitcher injuries due to excessive pitching the state is putting these young girls in a position that is very questionable!
