......and how might it apply to a recruit....what gives here folks?

If you were a "revenue sport" recruit, ie basketball or football, would a change in the "Boss" of the athletic department have your concern?

    Why?

Next, same question but now lets look at "non revenue" sports, ie baseball, volleyball, softball, womens basketball, etc.......now whats your opinion?

Would you be worried that the school that is recruiting you is winning .500 and might have a new coach?

Something to consider but not to worry about for sure.

if you are paying your way i think you might wanna look at 2nd options or think about WHY you picked that school.

if you are willing to go without playing keep to your decision. if not. contact your 2nd/3rd choices about playing. but either way speak to the ad and coach b4 you change your mind.

definitely speak to ad and coach if you are getting half or more money.

    related I hope

related to this topic (not intending to hijack Fish's thread but thinking in goes hand in hand).........

how important is it at a major conference Div 1 university athletics program to be competitive (upper echelon of the conference standings regularly; maybe even for championships now & then) in the non-revenue sports??

I think it's very important, a real bonus to your program.

...I agree with you. Hanging around .500 or maybe at the lower end of the conference year after year in any sport would make my eyes open if I were the AD at a school.

No hijack here either but what Iwas aiming at in my original post was if a recruit of a school saw the AD, (not just NCSU, although they are a good example because of the change in ADs) but anyway, as a recruit seeing a new AD come in, would you wonder if the coach of your sport be affected by the AD change? Might they lose their job and if so will it affect you as a new coach comes in?

Will the new coach honor your committment if you have not signed?

    just asking
