How often life teaches us lessons. My daughter's boyfriend was killed Tuesday on his way to watch her play. He was a beautiful young man who loved life. Since then, as you can imagine, it has been such a tough road. I have watched both her high school team and her TB team rally around her and hold her up. Last night we beat a tough competitor, Tuscola. By most people's counts we weren't supposed to, but our kids always knew they could if they could put it all together. Maybe an angel was watching over them... I watched my daughter breakdown after the last out and then I watched her whole team hold her up as they have all week. I can't say enough about those young ladies. I and Kristin appreciate them so very much. We live in Asheville and her TB team is out of the Winston Salem area. Her TB coach and the entire Carolina Cardinals family have held her up. The young ladies on her team, while so far away have emailed her, PM'd her and I know prayed for her. I want to thank both teams for being there for her. I want to thank the parents of all these young ladies for raising such beautiful young people. I want to thank her coaches on both teams for just being there and available to her. I understand her TB coach will travel today to be with Kristin at visitation. Life teaches us many things, sometimes the lessons are hard, but for me it has shown me what character and respect of another person can bring. These are a few of the things that the great sport of softball teaches besides the game. My daughter will always remember the kindnesses shown to her through this. I am so grateful that the sport of Softball has included the knowing of so many wonderful young people, their coaches and parents. Parents, hold your children tight. I know I will and be grateful for the time I have been given to do so.

The loss of someone so young is very hard to accept. Our prayers are with you and your daughter. The Tuscola family also suffered the loss of a fine young man due to a car accident in recent weeks. His friend is still recovering in a Tennessee hospital. The Erwin softball team was a different team than we saw earlier in the year and played with alot of heart last night. Congratulations on your win. I'm glad your daughter has her teammates to help her through this time. It has been my experience that the softball community are the greatest folks in the world and are always there when you need them.

You are so right and I remember my daughters and I praying for your school. You have a fine group of girls over there at Tuscola. It's great to see them in the fight for the title this year. You were right on when you say Erwin was a different team. They are all working hard through numerous obstacles. Hard times sometimes seem to bind.
