    Poor Troy Gaston. He won't get any credit even if SM wins the State Championship. Something that nobody ever mentions about Coach Gaston is this: While nearly all of the public HS in Charlotte have lost players to transferring to private schools, SM is able to retain theirs...why is that? Is it because the girls like playing for him? I believe it is.

    Joy Cheek is the best HS girls basketball player I have ever seen. There have been better ballhandlers...there have been better shooters...there have been better rebounders. But I have never seen anybody who can do it all like Joy. Another thing about Joy Cheek...she is a beautiful person as well. She deserves everything she gets...~note to self~ I forgot to get her autograph...I better hurry up

    ...and yes, I'm the President of the Joy Cheek fan club since she was a freshman:D

    i just had hopewell in a scrimage @statesville, all i can say is wow!!!!!!!!!!!!they are in mid-season form now! i had them last yr and they look like they are even better this yr.what a dangerous team inside ,outside and a big girl that can handle the ball like it was nothing!!!!!!!!! good luck to you girls !!!!

    Just a general observation on my part...the last couple years, Hopewell has put out a pretty good team on the court, but they still just a team that makes the playoffs and is usually one and out. This might be the year they step up to the next level and make a run at a regional appearance.
