Sorry, but there are no known player transfers at this time.

    1. Charlotte Christian School will host the 2006 NC/SC High School home run hitting contest in September. Winners advance to a national competition... stay tuned for more details later.

    2. Charlotte Christian School has been selected as the official sight for the 2006 NCISAA 3A state championship in May.

    3. Finally, from the rumor mill: one of Baseball America's top 5 ranked teams may be visiting Charlotte and the CCS diamond for a 3 game series in the spring... stay tuned for more details later.

I'm betting it's the team from Riverside in Greer, SC.

I think details are not final but as Coach Simmons firms them up (or they don't gel) we will let the TBR community know.

    Program Quality

At a Legion game not long ago, there was some "chatter" from an adult about the quality of baseball at Charlotte Christian and the program's achievements (or lack thereof depending on your perspective).

Here are a few tidbits to consider about some of their 2005 opponents:

    2005 Opponent Highlights
    Ashbrook HS - #4 2005 3A NC Impact ranking
    Eagle's View Academy - 2005 1A FL St Champion / #2 2004 1A FL
    Greenville Rose - #1 2005 4A NC Impact ranking (20-2) / 2004 4A NC St Champion
Houston Christian - 2005 #3 National rank by USA Today / 2005 5A TX St Champion
    Piedmont HS - #8 2005 3A NC Impact ranking
    Socastee HS - #2 2005 3A SC finish
    South Mecklenburg HS - #2 2005 4A NC
    Summit Christian - #4 2005 1A FL / 2004 1A FL St Champion
Tate HS - 2005 4A FL St Champion / 2005 #17 National rank by Baseball America
    Westminster Academy - #8 2005 2A FL

These 10 opponenets compiled 224 wins and 63 losses for the 2005 season. Of the 10 CCS losses in 2005, 7 were by 1 run.

Here are a few things about their grads... and while not everyone/anyone yet has gone to the pros or even finished four years of eligibility, they did get a chance to compete at the next level:

    Shelby Easter tournament

How did CC fare in the Shelby Easter tournament this year that included Crest, Burns and Kings Mountain from the Southwestern Foothills 3A conference?

    TC Roberson

Most experts in NC believed that TC Roberson was unbeatable in 2005 and would walk away with the NC state championship. Be careful with bold predictions.

I'm trying to recall some of the members of the JHRose 1999 team who played D1 ball. I know the following did, there are probably some more that I have forgotten.

    Justin Phillips - Campbell
Ryan Gordon - UNCG (1st team Louisville Slugger All American)
    Jamie Paige - ECU
    Mike Harrington - ECU
Will Brinson - ECU (3rd team All american)
    Clayton McCullough - Vanderbilt/ECU
    Ashley Capps - ECU

My apologies to the others I have left off the list.
