In the final game of championship series, after country day upset Cardinal Gibbons to meet christian in the finals, christian took the 1st game 11-1, then the 2nd game 4-1. The Bucs pitching staff really throttled the potent Knight offense. Coker came in relief battling a stomach virus and gave up no earned runs over 3 or 4 innings. Witman, the starter made 1 mistake to the Knights McVerry who cleared the 345 marker in left center for a solo shot. The Knights manufactured the second run and what turned out to be the margin of victory. The bucs battled in the 2nd game and made it close.

The Knights wind up 26 - 10. 7 of their 10 losses were by 1 run. A tough non-conference schedule included a 9-3 thumping by #46 ranked in the country (rivals.com), 4A Pensacola, FL powerhouse Tate HS; a 3-1 loss to USAToday's #5 ranked Houston Christian where Bard threw a 1 hitter; a 3-1 slip to Burns HS in the Shelby Easter Tournament and 2-1 downing to last year's NC 4A state champ and 44th ranked in the country (baseballamerica) JH Rose. Highlights included the 1st ever victory over perennial national power Westminster Academy, victories over conference champions Ashbrook HS 10-2 and Piedmont HS 16-1, a 6-1 victory over then-ranked #3 South Mecklenburg HS and an undefeated conference championship. With 11 juniors returning, The Knights may be very competitive in 2006.

congradulations to christian. they had a very impressive year despite the low # of seniors. next year might be scary for them, I heard somewhere that they could be a preseason top 25 team. again, congrats to coach simmons and all his guys

Good Job Charlotte Christian boys. I have a fond place in my heart for D. Hill and the Fulginiti duo. Hey, has Simmons finished tying down the net for the backstop yet?

No the back stop isn't completed yet. It is moving slower than a slug crossing Hwy 51 on a scorching hot August afternoon. That thing started in march and its not an engineering marvel, though it is nice to look at and its not CoacheS fault.

here is something on the out of conf teams the Knights played in 2005.

    Ashbrook HS - #4 2005 3A NC Impact ranking
    Eagle's View Academy - #4 2005 1A / #2 2004 1A FL
    Greenville Rose - #1 2005 4A NC Impact ranking (20-2) / 2004 4A NC St Champion
Houston Christian - #3 2005 National rank by USA Today / 2005 5A TX St Champion
    Piedmont HS - #8 2005 3A NC Impact ranking
    Socastee HS - #2 2005 3A SC finish
South Mecklenburg HS - #6 2005 4A NC Impact ranking
    Summit Christian - #4 2005 1A FL / 2004 1A FL St Champion
    Tate HS - #4 2005 4A FL
    Westminster Academy - #8 2005 2A FL

pobubly has sumthin to do with why they keep repeating.
