The potential for this game to happen was circled on the calendar back in January.....and now it's here!!!

Aces, Daniel Bard and Charles Vartainian, going against each other for the first time...bring the fire extinguishers because the ball will be flaming.

The bats of CC with Carrera, Bost, Bard, Fronk and company will be facing a tough pitcher and the bats of South Meck with Shelton, Kerr, Arrington, B-Rob and co. will be facing another stiff challenge against Bard

WARNING: Do not allow young kids or oldsters (you know, like Original) attend this game...may cause adverse reactions

But it is acceptable for teams in Green (Hmm...who could that be) to come support their favorite Sabres...

...and Braves being humble and unbiased about this game, I only have one remark....GO SABRES

    Charlotte Christian:
Daniel Bard is 6'4" and 195 lbs. and has a fastball that has been clocked at 94 mph. Bard is ranked among the nation's top 50 high school baseball prospects and considered NC's best pitcher and has been projected to possibly be selected by the second round of the June amateur draft but has signed to go to NC-Chapel Hill thus far.

    South Meck:
Charles Vartanian is 6'6" and 230 lbs. and has a tremendous fastball as well. Vartanian signed in the Fall of 2002 with Wofford College for both an academic and an athletic scholarship.

I have faith in you that you can handle this game. Don't listen to them, lol.

:( ...Daniel Bard is the man...I left in the 7th with SM batting...

    CC 9 SM 3

The Knights of Charlotte Christian were the better team tonight.

Two injuries to key players: Tyler White EM popped his shoulder out of place diving for a fly ball.

Kyle Shelton SM- injured his back being flipped on a sliding runner at 3rd...good, clean slide.

No further info on how long each player will be out

    7:00 pm - Charlotte Christian 9, South Meck 4

In my opinion, Daniel Bard with CC had a good game tonight but so did Charles Vartanian for South Meck. The difference tonight was the 2 errors by South Meck and the 1 error by CC. Bard had the support that he needed defensively and Vartanian did not quite a few times. South's 2 errors were enormous errors that gave CC 3 unearned runs and CC's error was just a minor one.

Great pitching game by both Bard and Vartanian tonight at the Shelby baseball field. Again Bard pitched a good game tonight but Bard's support from his defense and his batters tonight kept CC in the game.

At the South Meck game it was determined that Kyle Shelton would be fine and mostly probably just a little sore tomorrow as he was checked out on the spot by the doctor working at the field tonight.

First may I say that both pitchers did an OUTSTANDING job tonight! Yes....with my newly tuned pacemaker I was able to attend the game...All 7 innings! And please note.....that Braves is STILL reeling from the pictoral highlights I posted upon his entry into the AARP! No problem.....I always consider the source and respect my elders!

I have seen Vartanian's fine pitching on numerous occassions but had never seen Bard pitch. WOW......Smooth Operator! Pitching at 90 + mph looks effortless with Bard at the mound ! It WAS a treat to watch!

I have ONE more thing ...no two more things to say about the game tonight....

1st - I hope that Kyle Shelton will be fine tomorrow as he took a very hard , serious fall. Also that the East Meck player, Tyler White will be fine as well.

2nd - I have never been to a game where there were as many guys with "guns and Pads"......It added an element to the game that I had never seen before. It seemed everone was aware of the "evaluators" when Bard pitched. Having those guys there was actually exicting in that you knew you were going to see someone that was not just "good" but " really good."

Just wondering ......how does that affect Bard specifically and the other team members / opponents in general?
