    I understand

I hear what you are saying Homer3. The UNC Charlotte facility, although nice, has no lights and could not handle 500 people comfortably. No support for program from the AD side. It is too bad because Aimee DeVos is one of my favorite coaches.

The ASA had to guarantee 2000 ticket sales in order for the Olympic team to commit. If we did not sell that many tickets, the Charlotte ASA would have had to pay them anyway. It is always about money one way or another. I try to stay on the positive side and what is good for the kids. A smiling 9 year old is worth a whole lot more that a few dollars!

I am glad that your daughter had a good time and hope she got a few autographs after the game. I got a ball autographed for a little girl whose mom I work with. I know she will be smiling tonight when mom gives her the ball after work. That is what it is all about in my book.

The ball was autographed by all the Cardinal players and coaches and it went right along side all her trophies as soon as she got home! I'm sure she didn't notice the field (but she did comment about having to jump the fence in the outfield and the line to the bathrooms lol.)

Speaking of ticket sales, I know of 2 families that drove up from Georgia only to be turned away because they did not have tickets. Too bad a few tickets were not held back for just that kind of situation. But that just goes to further show the growing level of inetrest in fastpitch softball. I'm confident another 1000 tickets could have been sold if there had been a complex available to seat 4000 fans. If a complex could be built somewhere in central NC, I know the place would stay full with tournaments and possibly a pro fastpitch team. Maybe one day? :xyzthumbs

There was not a good alternative

When all is said and done, there was not another place to hold it in this area. I am happy with what we ended up with. It could have been better and then again it could have been worse.

I am sorry that everyone could not hear. I was closer to the PA system and did not realize everyone could not hear until it was mentioned here.

sure, it would have been nice for it to have been played at a better facility. but there just wasn't one around, that i know of. the biggest concern i have was the PA system. i too was down the right field fence where it met the outfield fence. And if they were announcing during the game i didn't know it. i didn't feel apart of what was going on. at one time i said, "i can't believe they don't have a PA system to announce the game." And we'd get busy talking between innings, then look up and there'd be two outs on the board...lol...so i don't know what all i missed.

i really think they could've invested (rented) in a good PA system...it always adds to the game.

    Pro Fastpitch in Charlotte?

Pro Fastpitch team in Charlotte? The support is would be there as well as in the triad area. But not until a decent complex is built.
