charlotte teams

im sorry i cant recall the name of the conference, but im just curious to see what everyone's opinion on the conference that includes west meck, catholic, waddell, etc..? i know they really are a deep conference but waddell looks to have a few pretty solid hitters and a solid pitcher, catholic looks solid and west meck, which starts 3 or 4 freshmen and are young all around are leading the conference look pretty solid. im just wondering what ppl are hearing or thinking.

 

I think that confrence would be the weakest of the Charlotte confrences, i think both the SW4A (Butler, Weddington, Providence, Audrey Kell, South Meck) and MECA 6 (Central Cabarrus, Hopewell, North Meck, Jay M Robinson)are alot stronger confrence thats just my opinion.

I don't know much about these teams, but think they will be competative within their conference.

 

Not a good conference

Our daughter plays for Olympic and we have not been happy that we were taken out of the SW4A Conference. We always played these teams close and beat several of them each year. No one took Olympic for granted. We've not always had the most talented team, but we always had a great coach, Doug Keelan, who knew what each girl could do and used this to Olympic's advantage.

Olympic won the QC3A/4A conference last year, but don't know if we can repeat this year. We've had 4 out of 8 seniors not return, so we have a lot of inexperienced girls playing varsity. We also lost our coach due to the attitude and actions of our AD, who doesn't think softball's really a sport. Our new coach played travel ball and softball in college, but she's young. We like her fine, it's just inexperience.

Olympic has lost to West Meck and Charlotte Catholic. Catholic has lost to West Meck, so West Meck sits in first in the conference right now. Waddell has a great group of girls who have played together since they were in little leage softball. They have a great attitude. After the Olympic/Waddell game, two Olympic players and 4 or 5 Waddell players went out to eat together.

The conference winner will be between West Meck, Charlotte Catholic and Olympic. I will say that, unfortunately, after the seniors graduate from Olympic in June, Olympic will lose a lot and not be near as competitive.

IMO, After this year, it will almost be a sure thing that West Meck will go to the state tournament for 4A and Charlotte Catholic for 3A every year.

Having said that, there are some very good ball players in this conference spread amongst these teams. Several are going to play in college, even D1 schools.

yea, i know they are definitely the weaker of the charlotte conferences, but there are a few up and coming teams. west meck just got dominated by butler, but held their own against adrey kell until a few careless errors with two outs let some unearned runs in. they do have a rematch with kell at their place on 4/18.
