Ah...excuse me Original...but where do you think "Sports Beat" gets their information and opinions from....Chris checks the board everyday to determine what he is going to present on his show next...after consulting with the TBR "gurus'.

TBR rules Sports Beat, so next time...don't be so surprised:)

    Coach Chet Greeson.....

I agree with my Ktown buddies (KtownYankee and Int.Coach),,, and I also agree what others are saying that Coach Greeson is an excellent coach. Chet definitely knows baseball, and also knows how to communicate too. But most importantly, "HE's a KANNAPOLIS BOY"!!!

Let's see, if he graduated from Ktown in 197?, how old would that make Chet? Don't worry Chet, we won't tell... ;) ;) ;)

Then again, did he ever graduate? :D :D :D

Ah...excuse me Braves..... I had NO DOUBT  that Sports Beat consulted the one...the only......TBR for direction in the planning of their stories.....

    Wasn't surprised:saywhat: at all.

Just thought I'd point it out to those folks who spend more time on TBR than watching sports beat;)

Braves...did you know it was Southloops B day today?

braves, i hate to bust your bubble...but he took a team that was 2 years removed from a state title and won less than 5 games with them in his first season...and never sniffed the playoffs with them.

i am sure that he is having a great season this year, but to say that he gets the most out of the least is stretching it a bit.

Hey Law- I have a lot of respect for your opinion...and I truly understand how you feel, but let me ask you this. Can a coach learn from his mistakes?

...he was the most loved and respected coach while at South and apparently, continues to enjoy that relationship with the East Meck guys. I have spoken with many of their players and to a man, they all say they love Coach Greeson...

I know how you feel and you deserve to feel the way you do, but I can't help but think he learned his lessons since Harding.

...anyway. it's good to see you post again...please post more often.

    Coach Greeson...

Law1ng2b, Are you trying to slight Coach Greeson because of how he did during his very first years in coaching?

Maybe you're not a Chet Greeson fan, but this guy has forgotten more baseball than a lot of folks know,,, he definitely knows a lot about the game. And as for his first year, there's such a thing called "learning". Even the best ballplayers must learn to "coach" the game instead of just playing it, and also learn how to communicate this to his players. I'll have to defend Coach Greeson on this one, he's a exceptional coach and a lot of folks know it. Its great to see him getting recognized. I'm sure he will do fine coaching in the State Games this summer and he will continue doing fine at East Meck also.

Hey everybody. I agree that Coach Greeson should be Coach of the year without a doubt, but Coach Deming over at Myers Park has his team playing better than ever. It should come down to the final week or so, but Greeson should definitely be considered one of the finest coaches in the conference and state. He's incorporated underclassmen (Bryant, McNichol, and Davidson) into his starting lineup and they have gelled nicely with the slew of Seniors. I think the players have really begun to imitate his attitude and are real supportive of each other. More so than most of the teams I played on or have seen lately. He goes out of his way to make sure that I'm doing ok, and same goes for other students who aren't even on the baseball team. He's an all around good guy and his competitiveness has rubbed off on his players who are looking to lock up at least a #2 seed in the conference on Wednesday against providence.

just calling it like i saw it

hey...you guys have a very valid point...and chet probably did learn a lot from the experience at harding. but the facts are that the program there was the most feared in the city at the time and they completely fell off the radar. there was still talent there...heck one of his former players there is in AA with the White Sox now (Chad Durham) and he had several others with enough ablility to win a lot more games that they did. and the harding job was not the first head coaching job he had.

chet has a great baseball mind...i could see that then and it is showing now. but those athletes there at that time were of a different breed. it took alternative methods to get the most out of the talent and the coaching staff in place before him did just that. 4 state tourny trips in 5 years, a state title and two trips to the quarter finals among them.

by the way Braves...thanks for welcoming me back. it has been a pretty busy month or so with another relocation (this time to the NYC area). i will try to get more involved in the coming weeks. hey, tournament time is creeping up, right?
