    have been told by some good umps (there are actually a few) that once you release the ball your arm cannot go past the hips again. this was called on my daughter a few years ago, so she changed her throw from release to stopping her hand in the air and waving at the batter.......got a laugh from quite a few and distracted a few batters before they caught on.....
