That's because there's been a change in the box dimensions. An area athletic director informed me that its changed, giving a little more room for the coaches to work with. Also, a local middle school game coach has been t'ed up twice for leaving the coaches box and is on report for this. You're right BigDan, its being called alot.

Spikes did not dress out for the game. It looked to me that Crest just quit running there offense at the end of the 3rd quarter and the entire 4th quarter. Any player that got a chance would launch a 3. To the other teams credit they did start hitting some 3's in the second half.

I was sitting up next to the Crest fans and I heard people mention that he wants to dress out today against East Chapel Hill (4 pm).

As far as what happened in the game, titan90 was pretty much on the mark. Crest wasn't patient enough on offense and took the first open shot.

They did the same thing vs Ashbrook. They had the lead and just launched up the first shot they saw. This team has some promise, but they have some issues they better get settled if they plan on doing anything.

What classification does Mt. Zion play in. When I was in private school back in the day I remember playing them a game, but they were never in the playoffs, and they clearly would have killed everyone with McGrady, and then when I went to public school they weren't there either. Are they a prep school like Laurinberg and Hargrave or is it something else?

I think Mt. Zion is a Christian School, but they play a national schedule like that of Oak Hill. So I guess it would be classified as a prep school.

The team that's been fielded at the Freedom Invitational is not their "A" team that plays the national schedule. This is the "B" team that plays more locally and regionally. But they're still very, very good. They play in the NCISAA 3A, I believe.

Semifinal action from the 28th annual Freedom Christmas Invitational:

    Crest Chargers 85
East Chapel Hill 74 (3 OT)

    Independence def Waddell by 20

    Millbrook 58
    McDowell 27

Mount Zion was crushing Freedom when I left midway in the 3rd period. Mt. Zion had a 52-17 advantage at the half.
