    From West Henderson:
    Matthew Pruitt
    Seth Grant

    From TC Roberson:
    Justin Jackson

    From Rosman:
    Alex MacMahan

    From AC Reynolds:
    John Hinson
    Sam Runion

These are the best juniors in the mountains this year with "true" D-1 potential. There may be some that I have not seen, but of the teams I have these stand out. There will be a bunch that will play at other levels of college ball. There may be some that will walk on D-1 and make squads but these should be the most heavily recruited.

David Shambley - Green Hope High School - C/3rd - Very solid catcher, with good pop times and strong arm. Good speed for a catcher, hits the ball to all fields and and has good power. Very good player with a head for the game.

    07 class

Alex Hill at Vance. All Conference Freshman and Sophmore year. Batting 586 this year. It is unfortunate that his team is not very good or he would be getting more publicity. He is being recruited by two ACC schools, Will keep the board posted on the progress

    Person 07's

A couple of guys to really look out for:

Hunter Wrenn (LHP) - 6'7/180. The kid has awesome potential. SO far this season (1-0, 3.71 ERA, 23 K's 10 BB in 11.7 IP). If he grows to catch his shoes (size 18) he'll be a big player. Loose arm action and a sharp breaking ball. Excellent prospect.

Elliott Tolley (LHP/OF/1B) - 6'/175 So far this season (4-0, 2.77 ERA, 17.7 IP, 29K's 5 BB) Has excellent command of all pitches, hides ball well and a very good pick off move. Another excellent prospect for the Rockets. At the plate (.438 BA, .667 OB%, 1 3B, 2 2B, 4 RBI's)

being a little bias i will have to add a few to the 07 class.

someone has already mentioned greg holthe is a legite 2 way player that has laready committed to unc.

Stamper a very good football and baseball player that will kill you with his speed. hits the ball well for power and average. good defensive player with an above average arm (not at this point, he has an arm injury and rehab is about finished)

matt sapp a shortstop in high school, possibly a 2nd baseman in college, great leadoff guy with a good eye and great bat control. good speed with great hands defensively

chad jarvis lhp is currently 10-0 over a 2 year period. good fastball (low to mid 80's) with good breaking stuff and great change-up. is getting mentally tougher each outing.

wesley mcbride converted catcher to a rhp. throws hard and a heavy ball in upper 80's and has touched 90. still developing his offspeed stuff. will be a steal for someone next year.

several 08's to be looking at for the future: alex robertson, chris sanders, sammy lucas to name a few.

I agree with these choices. Each one of these players has impressed me in many different aspects of the game. All swing a very strong bat and are equally quick and consistent in the infield.

    2 others...

Hunter Glass- Hunter has made the most improvements out of everybody on Butler's roster this year. His arm strength, fielding ability, and overall approach at the plate are all outstanding. I want to see him swinging the pole more, deceptive power this youngster has. Has grown so much and has shown his devotion to the game more than many his age. I can tell that he wants to play at the next level, and he definitely deserves to...even if he is only a junior.

Harrison Helms-Over the past few seasons I have season a somewhat inconsisent lefty turn into a strike machine. His velocity compares to Glavine and Moyer in my opinion but he knows where to put the ball. Oh yea and this kid has been swingin the stick as far as I've seen, I think we have another Mike Hampton.

Matt Bjorkstrom- seeing this kid back in a Butler uniform is a good thing. A very consistent ballplayer that also has a great devotion to the game. As the year progresses I'd like to see some more good stats come out of this one.

Blanton the 2nd baseman was in the lead off spot for Butler in the New Hanover Tournament and was 4-7 with a 2b and 3 singles and 2 walks in 2 games and him and Drew Gerhinger are a nice combination up the middle for this year and next.....! both with speed in all directions and a bat....Helms hadn't pitched much! Pitchers Smith and Oatis have sore arms and hopefully will be back soon! Also, Matt Bjorkstrom pitched a 2 hitter in the 1st game and was 6-9 for the 2 games with the bat.....Shawn Wixted had a 3b in the 1st game....Glass hadn't played a whole lot for me to agree with your comment, but he has the tools!
