One week after seeing Crest Middle and Shelby Middle battle to a 13-7 OT classic, Crest Middle and Burns Middle hooked up for the Tri-County Championship...the final in this one was 58-34 Crest Middle. Crest caps off it's third straight undefeated season. Some eye popping stats from the game...Brandon Littlejohn from Burns passed for over 300 yards. Cortez Wright from Crest rushed for 267 yards on 10 carries and 6 TD's. A fun game to be at.

Here's the story from the Shelby Star.

LAWNDALE — Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday would have enjoyed this version of “The Shootout at the OK Corral.”
The Tri-County Conference Middle School football championship game turned into a offensive explosion at the Burns High Stadium Wednesday. The visiting Crest Dragons finished off an unbeaten season with a wild 58-34 victory over the Burns Eagles.
No one had expected this kind of contest in the rematch. Crest won 23-0 in the regular season in a contest where Burns had difficulty moving the football.

This time the Eagles unveiled a spread passing attack they had installed over the last three practices. The result was a 305-yard, four-touchdown passing performance by Burns’ Brandon Littlejohn who was playing his first game at quarterback. His ability to execute the passing scheme allowed Burns to cut a 30-6 deficit in the second quarter to 37-34 by midway in the third quarter.

However, even that kind of offensive effort nearly paled next to the numbers piled up by Crest running back Cortez Wright. All he did was carry the football 10 times for 267 yards and six touchdowns on the night — three of those covering distances of more than 50 yards.

The two standouts were far from being one-man shows.
For Crest, Rhaheim Ledbetter had a 25-yard run for a score on the first play of the game.
Crest also got a safety when Shaquan Ussery broke through to block a punt that bounced out of the end zone.
Titus Price also intercepted a pass inside the five to stop another Burns drive. Hunter Poole was accurate on all eight extra point kicks for the Dragons.

For the Eagles, Littlejohn’s main target was Tykee Ruff. They connected on scoring passes of 51, 30 and 74 yards.
Elijah Brown also was on the receiving end of an 11-yard touchdown throw and Daniel Allen had five receptions for Burns. Travond Ross had an interception for the Eagles and Daron Wright recovered a fumble.

You had better hope that you keep all your current coaches. Your Superintendant Dr. Boyles hire Barcaly Marsh here in Moresville and look what happened to our program straight down to the bottom of the pits. He will hire a bad one if he gets the chance
