    SAVE MIDDLE SCHOOL SPORTS MEETING

    Tues., March 29th @ 7pm

    Christ Lutheran Church

    4519 Providence Rd.

    Charlotte, NC 28226

    Hosted by:

Tripp Roakes, South Charlotte Sports Report

Rhonda Lennon, CMS School Board Representative

    Dear Friends,

I want to invite your entire family to the SAVE MIDDLE SCHOOL SPORTS meeting on Tuesday March 29 at 7:00pm at Christ Lutheran Church located at 4519 Providence Road in Charlotte. As many of you are aware, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has announced plans to end middle school sports for the 2011-2012 season due to budget cuts. I have stepped forward to lead a grassroots movement to restore middle school sports with a sustainable funding program. On Tuesday night, I will provide information on the past, present and future of middle school sports. I will share funding options, ideas to improve and expand the program and the role that your family can provide to the success of future programs.

We need your help on Tuesday night. It is vital that if you have children in middle school sports or children that plan to participate in the next few years that you join me in the effort to save the program. We need to show our community the importance of middle school sports and how we will all step up to provide the support needed for success. To reach our goals it will take everyone stepping forward for the future. I need to see you at the meeting.

Parents and Student-Athletes are urged to attend. Please wear your school colors and show your spirit and support for the effort to SAVE MIDDLE SCHOOL SPORTS.

I look forward to seeing you on March 29th at 7:00pm at Christ Lutheran Church.

If they eliminate after schools sports, then they should have to eliminate all after school activities, correct? Band concerts, plays etc? I would think if they didn't that would be showing preference for certain extra-curricular activities over others, and I am sure the lawsuits would fly.

If Middle School sports are saved in Charlotte, I hope people realize the only reason has been because of the vision, veracity and direction that has come from Tripp Roakes.

He has single-handedly spearheaded the drive to save Middle School sports in Charlotte. He is on all media everyday professing the need for the sports in school and offers solutions. While Supt. Gorman paid him no attention before, Tripp certainly has his attention now. I bet Gorman wishes Tripp would go away...but no sir...that ain't happenin'.

Thank you, Tripp Roakes, for your dedication in trying to save sports in MS. It's a great cause and one I'm glad and fortunate that you are out front leading the way.

Please support what Tripp is doing by coming to tonight's meeting. It is very important.

Thanks Braves for those kind words

I have a heck of a battle on my hands, but more and more people are coming forward to help.

We will reach our goal and hopefully everyone will come to appreciate the resources we have a little more.

I will say this, I think Dr Gorman is actually pulling for the success of this movement,,, he wants sports to happen and he has a vested interest in middle school softball as well.

this whole experience is really making me excited about the Middle School Portion of my Battle of the Border event this year!
