    State game colded out

State's game Fri. in Raleigh vs. Gardner-Webb was cancelled due to the cold temperatures. Seems sort of strange. I know it would be uncomfortable, but I am assuming other college games in NC were played this afternoon.

Well, I can't imagine it was colder than it was at Kennesaw State this evening. I've never been so cold at a baseball game. It was brutal for the spectators.....I just can't imagine playing in it.

    Newberry 5 Mars Hill 4

Mars Hill has sorely missed red-shirt all-conference reliever Charlie Harrison this season. The Lions lost the lead and their first SAC conference game in the bottom of the ninth against Newberry on Friday. This is in addition to games already lost this year in the 8th (Anderson), 9th (Belmont-Abbey), 10th (UNC-P), and 12th innings (USC-Upstate). There have been great starting performances by pitchers Nick Tracey, Cody Branton, and freshman Justin Hall with little to show for it. The Lions have talent in the pen but not much experience.

Hopefully, the Lions will warm up with the weather soon and they can come close to repeating or building on last year's success.

From what I've seen Nick would have an immediate impact anywhere.

Mars Hill loses 2 more today in the bottom of the 9th!!!! Newberry sweeps the series on last-at-bats in all three games!!!! Unbelieveable.

    The Lions are now 3-11.

    Wild One at Davidson

Well our first college game turned out to a shootout as Davidson outlasted Georgetown 16-15. The wind was wipping straight out to center at about 20 MPH and the hitters took advantage. Nine homeruns were hit between the two teams. The game turned in Davidson's favor in the bottom of the second when three Hoya errors and some timely hitting helped Davidson put up a seven spot. Wildcat starter Rob Wilson left after five leading 7-4 but the Davidson bullpen had all kinds of trouble. The big blow came in the bottom of the seventh when Zach Kayne blasted a three run homer to deep right to give Davidson a 16-13 lead. In the ninth with the score at 16-15, SS Matt Webb came on to retire three straight for the save.
