    Augusta St..............12

The Jaguars would tie the game with a run in the second and took the lead for good with a pair in the fourth to open up a 3-1 lead. In the fifth, Augusta State broke the game open with seven runs on six hits to widen its gap to 10-1.

    Carson-Newman 4-11 Mars Hill 3-0

The Lion's season (3-13, 0-5) is growing into nightmarish proportions as they suffer yet another late inning loss in the 1st game and get thier butts kicked in the 2nd as Carson-Newman completes the doubleheader sweep at Henderson Field on Saturday.

In Game 1, Mars Hill jumped on C-N starter Matt Teague (Western Carolina transfer from Belmont) for 2 runs in the first before Teague settled down and kept things close until C-N tied things up in the 8th 2-2. Mars Hill got another great sterting performance from Nick Tracey (Herndon, Va) who went 9 innings. Carson-Newman finally broke the tie in the 12th on freshman Micheal Brown's 2-run blast. Mars Hill rallied in the bottom of the frame with a HR from senior Matt Carter and a double by senior Marc Wassum only to see the rally fall short for a 4-3 loss.

In Game 2, MHC starter Cody Branton (Mt.Heritage) suffered his first bad start of the year (6 ER) giving up 4 runs in the first and later a 3-run blast to Brandon Burchfield that broke the game open 8-0. C-N then cruised to the 11-0 win.

HANG IN THERE. DON'T GIVE UP, GUYS!!!!!

    INJURY REPORT:
Carson-Newman's Wes Dozier (Hopewell) joins another freshman and former showcase teammate Tusculum's Sean Cotten (Lake Norman) on the red-shirt injury list for this year.

    GET WELL SOON!!!!!!!

ANDERSON, SC- The Belmont Abbey College Crusaders swept a doubleheader with Anderson University Trojans Saturday at Anderson Memorial Stadium to give the Trojans their first two conference losses of the year.

In the second game, Belmont Abbey scored six runs in the first inning to take control early and the Crusaders went on to post a 10-6 victory.

Jonathan Pitts’ two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth of the first game tied the score at 5, but the Crusaders answered in the top of the fifth with a one-out double by Seth Waller and Udwari’s three-run home run in the sixth.

The Trojans were led offensively in the first game by Blair Carson, who was 3-for-4 with a run scored, and by Pitts, who was 2-for-3 with a three-run home run.

Pitts led the Trojans offensively by going 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.

Crazy times at Pioneer Park in Tusculum today. With the series tied 1-1, todays game was one of the greatest games i ever seen. Tusculum was up 3-1 in the top of the 8th inning and Catawba scores two runs to tie the game. Tusculum had their chances to score in the bottom of both 8 and 9 innings. So of course the game goes to the 11th inning. This maybe one fo the most heads-up plays i have ever seen but Catawba was hitting in the top of the 11th innings with runners on 2nd and 1st with two outs. I think it was there 6 hole hitter was up and hits a ball between Short and third and of course the coach sends the runner home. The left fielder comes up and throwes the ball to third base to pick off the runner going to third before the runner crosses the plate. A second later the runner would have scored. So that was the 3rd out and Tusculum comes up to bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Mark Deans comes up and htis one into the left-center gap for the game winner to cap off a great game between two great teams. Tusculum improves to 8-6, 2-3 Conference. Next weekend is Mars Hill at Tusculum.

Wake Forest held on to salvage game 3 and avoid the sweep. WFU blew a 2-run lead in the bottom of the 9th in game 2. Greenville Rose Standout Garret Bullock (1-0, 1.50 ERA) went 7-innings, allowed 7-hits, 3-runs (1-earned), struck out 3 and walked 1. It's Bullock's second straight strong outing.

WFU faces UNC-Charlotte Tuesday at WFU.

    Mars Hill 9 Lander 8

MARS HILL, NC - This time it's Mars Hill's time to win on the last at bat. The game winning hit came with the Lions down 8-7, bases loaded, on a 3-2 count off the bat of sophomore shortstop Brian Williams (Orlando, Palm Beach Atlantic). Williams ' heroics were set up by some brilliant relief pitching by Jason Kennell (Charlotte, Myers Park) and winning pitcher Eric Stewart (Asheville, TC Roberson, Blue Ridge CC).

After normally reliable freshman starter Justin Hall got knocked around for 7 ER, the Lions found themselves down 8-0 in the 3rd inning. That's when Kennell took over on the mound and the Lions began thier comeback. OF James Dean (Lake Butler, Fla.) led Mars Hill hitters going 4-6 with 2 RBI. Junior TJ Guinan was a force at the plate for the Lander Bearcats going 3-5 with 2 doubles, a HR, and 2 RBI.

An unusually mild February afternoon for baseball at Henderson Field today.

    Wake Forest 9 Charlotte 7

Charlotte was unable to hold on to a 7-2 lead. A two run home run in the tenth does them in. They will take on James Madison this weekend at Kannapolis.
